3213290 Well speaking as someone who has never actually had one, all I can do is work off historical precedent. As I understand it there is usually an implied if not stated hierarchy - "favourites" if you will - and a certain degree of autonomy outside of the relationship's sphere. The concept of slave-harems is, much like the iron-maiden, a romanticised concept dreamt up by modern writers. That's not to say that slave harems never existed, but that they were never common nor usually deemed acceptable in most cultures. Prostitutes worked just as well for a tyrant on the march.
Because of its sensitive and somewhat taboo nature, harems have frequently been associated with other risque concepts, such as prostitution and BDSM, although in a consensual relationship of course that sort of thing is usually left up to the interpretation of the individuals involved and are not inherently linked.

As to the story itself, my one and only explicit sex story on this site delves somewhat into the implied creation of a harem between Sunset, Sonata, and Fleur de Lis when the latter, who is infatuated with Sunset, makes the offer of consensual relations between the three, Sunset and Sonata being a couple by that point.
I don't know how you intend to proceed with your own story, but the creation of the harem, a description of it, or a separate story simply involving it are all perfectly good bases for a story.
