Moondancer is Controversy

Who here loves Moondancer? Who here has loved her even without ever appearing in the show even once? Who here has written about her in some form or another? The answer to all those questions is; me.

Don't get me wrong I love the 'new' Moondancer, she was kinda adorable in a 'season one Twilight' kind of way. That being said however, I feel like a lot of the fandom is probably very pissed off about the way that Moondancer was handled. And for anyone who is a part of the Moondancer group, you might know that I have been working on a project for the contest for about two weeks now. I'd really just like to say that what they have done for Moondancer might have damaged a lot of peoples love of the mysterious character who was known only by name, and a single panel from the comics.

I first fell in love with the character after I did some research and came up with not even a single appearance of her. The only thing that existed was that one panel from the comics where she looked so shy, nervous, and had wonderful long hair. She was adorable and cuddly. But the mystery surrounding her really sold me on her as a concept. As a blank canvas we could do whatever we wanted and we would all be right. Is she a doctor, or an artists? Does she like poetry, or hard core rock music? Is she straight or gay? All of these were true, and none of them at the same time.

Comic book version

Now that she's no longer a mystery I have to admit that my love for her is waning a little. Sure this episode had a lot of really good concepts that I had been wanting to see covered for some time now. but aside from that I don't know if I want to work with this version of her very much.

Just in case you are wondering, for the Trixie and Maud story, or any sequels/ side stories to that universe my Moondancer will still be the lovable doctor that she was. So full of caring but a little socially awkward. Also in regards to the that story I wrote, it's coming out asap, in order to help and stem the tide of hate that will come from it; you see I started writing it before the episode came out. But I am not changing the Moondancer that I love to write about just yet.
