It's been a while since I've written Three Nights in Manehattan. A whole election cycle and pandemic happened between now and then - and quite a bit of education on my part.
I've taken a brief foray into Lord of the Rings fanfiction - one set many years after the end of the main series in a time when Middle Earth is very modern and developed, essentially a fantasy version of the modern world rather than early Anglo-Saxon Europe.
I never understood why it had to get that far in the first place. Personally, I never cared who married who as long as it was between two people, and they were of age.
I'm glad that all this marriage equality crap is over. Everyone can marry who they want now, as it should have been, and maybe now we can get on with our lives.
It's a great thing that this happened, but it's a shame that it had to happen. Love has no labels, and it never should. It really sucks that people refuse to accept that some people want to live their lives differently than they do, and they try to fight giving them the same rights tooth and nail.
As an aside, I'm also thoroughly enjoying all these people who're threatening to leave the US and move to Canada. Silly homophobes — Marriage Equality was passed 10 years ago in Canada!

The grip of tyranny often takes considerable prying to loosen.
That´s a lie, the love no is that
This is a step in the right direction, though acceptance is still further off than it should be.
Going to be a lot of drama in the US this week.

Yeah, the number of people unclear about that fact amuse me.
Man, do I really have some anti-progressive fans in here downvoting everything? That's funny.
