I apologize that it took so long to get this written and published. It's kind of a marathon of a chapter - both to write and to read. It's probably not my best work, I'll admit, but some important groundwork gets laid for future chapters. (And there's a whole lot of ship teasing going on. )

I think part of my problem is that I'm still too heavily tied with trying to fit all of the plot into the chapter structure I had originally planned. In an attempt to combat this in future chapters, I'll let the plot dictate the number of chapters rather than the other way around. (In other words, I'm aiming for smaller chapters, with progress through the plot determining the total number of chapters, rather than some arbitrary number of chapters that I have to squeeze everything into.)
