The Brutal Assassination of Time · 11:19pm Jun 25th, 2015

So I just spent all day at my new office getting an idea of how things go, and it has brought to my attention one ominous fact: some of my days are gone. Take tomorrow, for instance: my immediate boss and I are gonna drive around a small area trying to sell insurance. We're starting at 10 AM and he assures me we'll be at it all day, up to as late as 9 PM. He expects me to do stuff like this four times a week.

The good news is that the remaining three days aren't anywhere near as busy and I always get one day off a week (usually Sunday). If I've got things figure out, I'll still be pulling no more than 40 hours a week, going longer only if I manage to make an unusual number of sales. The bad news is that this means almost four whole days of my week are going to be completely lost in terms of planning, writing and reading time. Worst of all, one of those days is Saturday, which is my go-to day for publications.

Odds are that this will only lead to me switching my schedule around to handle Sunday releases instead of Saturday releases, but it's also clear that my production capacity for writing just went way, way down, because I doubt I'll be able to write anything on those four days when I come home dog-tired and have to go straight to bed to start work again the next morning. As luck would have it, this may not be all that big a problem:

Shadow Pony's rough draft is officially complete. It'll still be several weeks before release due to my editor's timetable, but that's still one less project to work on. I think that, if I stick to no more than two projects at a time, I might be able to continue my current rate of development. Might. If worse comes to worse, I may have to push back some of my intended works until after Shadow Pony is done, although I really hope it won't come to that.

I can't decide if these insurance guys have no idea how precious time is or are painfully aware of it.

In the meantime, that same Cerulean who is to edit Shadow Pony just completed a review of my own Reddux the Tyrant. If you haven't read it yet or are just interested in getting a second opinion, do give it a read (but beware of spoilers). I really enjoyed the review and will be keeping the noted faults in mind for later writings.

And that's it. I gotta get back to reading, because I have a ton of it to do and (now) not a lot of time to do it.

Heh, working a full time job is, surprise!, a full time job. :applejackconfused:

I don't mind working a full time job, I mind working a full time job that takes entire days away from me. I prefer my work evenly spaced out, thank you very much.

Hell, at least you have a set schedule. I'm working six days this week. Six! Because Jurassic World and Inside Out are breaking box office records. I don't know what my schedule is going to be like until the Box Office numbers are in. :applejackconfused:

To paraphrase John Green, time is a slut that loves to screw everybody.

There always seems to be a tradeoff for this kind of thing.
