Can you find anyone to get some stronger medicine for you? If not, you could try drinking some sort of alcohol. I hear that it dulls pain.

As much as I like alcohol, I don't think it's a good idea to drink it for this particular purpose as I have endometriosis, and it will likely just make the pain worse.
I've downed two codeine tablets of a particular brand, but I'm annoyed because the drug company that makes them has a.) made the formula weaker and b.) taken out the muscle relaxant, which used to be a great way to ease the pain. I and a number of friends who also suffer from chronic pain are pretty bummed about it.
Wait, I must have missed something, why are you in pain? What are you doing instead of BC that's causing you pain? Or is it some effect of quitting birth control?

I have endometriosis. The BC prevented me from having periods which cause me awful pain because of it.
Unfortunately because I have Bipolar Disorder, the BC also made me crazier. Catch 22.
Have you tried an extremely low-dose pill of progestins only? They're actually pretty shit for preventing pregnancy, but in my experience and the medical literature they have a much lower incidence of mental health side effects, and they do make periods a lot weaker. (Just not weak enough to prevent ovulation, all the time. My youngest daughter was conceived on that version of the pill, prescribed because it doesn't interfere with breastfeeding and I was still doing that for my son when I got pregnant with my daughter. :-))
Aside from that, all I can recommend is megadoses of Advil. You can actually take up to 800 mg at a time -- that's prescription strength ibuprofen.
You probably know all this, but just in case.

I actually got some from the doctor yesterday, but I'm going to wait a month to try them out because it's not the right part of my cycle to start them, and because I'm partly terrified they will make me crazy anyway. I know I can just come off them if they don't agree with me, but I'm frightened of being a gibbering wreck again, if only for a little while.
Advil doesn't do much for my pain. Codeine and Tramadol do, but it's hard to get high strength doses of them.
