400 Follower Blog Post + Story Announcement · 3:24am Jun 24th, 2015
Good evening everyone!
So, I've hit 400 followers. Just like it says in the title. Well, 404, now. (Insert obligatory can't find anyone joke)
It's been a real pleasure this last year since I started publishing Ghost of a Rose, which started out as a 200 follower celebration story and ended up being a 300ish follower celebratory story. I've published more stories, even some that were pretty popular (It was Beauty that Killed the Beast), and a few that I fell in love with while writing: The Last Vacation, Striking the Right Chord. I also got featured once more on EQD and selected, interviewed and featured on the RCL with Under a Tree, a slice of life story about Applejack and Fluttershy.
I also started doing the Writeoff competitions. Failed to place in the first, melted down in the second, and looking pretty good for the current, ongoing one. We'll see 
But on to what you all probably want to hear about! The Story! After the break.
This one is a story that I got the idea for and started writing it right that afternoon. It was just after I'd finished my Writeoff story and submitted it, so I was running pretty high on the WORDS MUST COME OUT NOW kick. Lo and behold, words kept on coming out.
So, now, a couple days after starting it, I'm ready to about publish. I'm a little curious to see how y'all react to the format - it's an experimental story. Thought did go into its construction, and the reasons for that construction. Thought went into the world building because it is, again, an AU story. It's also TwiDash. E/T Rated (not sure), romance, slice of life. A lot of the story takes place behind the scenes, with the gears of the major events being hinted at and suggested rather than directly explored.
The reason it's human is a simple one: I wanted to write a story from the point of view of a camcorder. Sort of. The camcorder's thoughts are what it sees and hears. Its narrative is what people say. It's a bit of an odd duck as far as a storytelling gimmick and construction.
If it gets a good reception, I will continue it. I have the characters lives more or less planned out, and I know what will be included. The main thing I'm worried about is how you all will like the POV. It's not really third person. Definitely not second person. There is no backstory being told in the foreground except where the characters speak it in natural dialogue. All else is description and action.
