    Seashell: getting closer to print!

Here's where we are on the Seashell print book:
83 pages all told, including front matter and a preface. 75 of them so far are story. Anticipating about 10-20 more pages to be finished. Almost there!
Cover's done (for the hardcover edition dust-jacket, at least, will probably have to be redone for the paperback but whatever).

    Jinglemas 2023, done!

I wrote this thing for Penguifyer, and today is my assigned day to deliver the gift, so I guess this is when the story drops:

    TLost
Twilight, on her new wings, couldn't find her way around Cloudsdale. It may have left more of mark on her than she wants to admit. Written for Jinglemas 2023.

I'm pleased to be able to say progress is being made, although to temper the good news, it hasn't been entirely easy.

Well, would you look at that. 10,000 total views on a story. Exciting! :pinkiehappy:

And as it turns out, way back in this blog post on March 5th of last year, I wrote about this day and what I thought it might mean. So now that it's here, how does it compare to the prediction?

I realize now that I was right and I was wrong.

I was right that getting here means more feedback and a better metric of success. This pleases me greatly. I feel like I've achieved a lot. At the same time, though, I'm also pleased to say I was wrong about something. It turns out that 1,000 views doesn't feel like just a blip now. Looking back at them, I still value reaching those first 1,000 views just as much. I value all my readers and all the times they've read my work, and increasing the volume of numbers doesn't diminish the meaning in each individual one to me. I feel lucky that not to have lost sight of that, because I have what I think is a truly wonderful reader base that's been very supportive and I appreciate that a lot, especially with how significant some of the stories I've written have been to me in personal ways. I don't ever want to grow distant from all of you who've been good friends through my MLP fanfiction journey so far. I'm confident now that I'll still feel the same when something of mine hits 100,000 views.

Thanks for being here with me, everyone!

And on the subject of good friends I've met here, special mention has to go to Grand Moff Pony in particular. I just got back from hanging out with him IRL at his house this past Saturday and Sunday. I'd like to say many, many thanks to him for inviting me out and for the truly excellent hospitality. I had an awesome time! While I was there, we were also able to meet up with Littlecolt (I hope I'm linking to the right user profile there) for dinner. Always cool to get to meet fellow pony fans.

Congratulations!
...And, um, the story is on one of my reading lists. It just... has a lot of company there. :)

It certainly was fun!
