    Here we go again!

    My latest completed commission: Nyx!

No, not that Nyx. Alicorn Nyx.
...Shoot, they're both alicorns? Well, this is gonna get confusing...

Made with purple, cardinal, royal blue, and custom gradients.

Did I mention I have my MS in computer science?

Well, I do. I earned it last year. I don't think I made a blog post about graduating here on FimFic, but it's a thing that happened. I have a diploma hanging on my wall in a tastefully minimalistic frame and everything. It's pretty neat.

Relevant, because in my spare time in the last few days, pretty much on a whim, I programmed this:

We're a step closer to Sunrise...

And an important step, too, since it's an irrevocable one:

I just submitted it to Equestria Daily.

    "Pride" and what it isn't

As we close in on the end of Pride Month, it may be worth taking a second to consider what we wish to include under that heading. This reflection is important, I think, because no cause or identity can survive without being discriminate about what it onboards, and any cause or community that grounds its values in inclusiveness will inevitably encounter bad actors who think that being "inclusive"

So, where are we with Sunrise?

I haven't done a progress blog on Sunrise in a long, long time.

    Sorry about that.

I'm gonna do one now, though.

In fact, I'm gonna do the last one:

    Sunrise is finished!

I finished writing the final chapter a couple days ago. The GDocs link has been sent off to the editors. I have cover art. We're at the finish line, folks. This is it.

Well, would you look at that. 10,000 total views on a story. Exciting! :pinkiehappy:

And as it turns out, way back in this blog post on March 5th of last year, I wrote about this day and what I thought it might mean. So now that it's here, how does it compare to the prediction?

I realize now that I was right and I was wrong.

I was right that getting here means more feedback and a better metric of success. This pleases me greatly. I feel like I've achieved a lot. At the same time, though, I'm also pleased to say I was wrong about something. It turns out that 1,000 views doesn't feel like just a blip now. Looking back at them, I still value reaching those first 1,000 views just as much. I value all my readers and all the times they've read my work, and increasing the volume of numbers doesn't diminish the meaning in each individual one to me. I feel lucky that not to have lost sight of that, because I have what I think is a truly wonderful reader base that's been very supportive and I appreciate that a lot, especially with how significant some of the stories I've written have been to me in personal ways. I don't ever want to grow distant from all of you who've been good friends through my MLP fanfiction journey so far. I'm confident now that I'll still feel the same when something of mine hits 100,000 views.

Thanks for being here with me, everyone!

And on the subject of good friends I've met here, special mention has to go to Grand Moff Pony in particular. I just got back from hanging out with him IRL at his house this past Saturday and Sunday. I'd like to say many, many thanks to him for inviting me out and for the truly excellent hospitality. I had an awesome time! While I was there, we were also able to meet up with Littlecolt (I hope I'm linking to the right user profile there) for dinner. Always cool to get to meet fellow pony fans.

...And, um, the story is on one of my reading lists. It just... has a lot of company there. :)

It certainly was fun!
