The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a now-famous tradition from ancient times that has been a huge part of Mexican Culture through the centuries. Like so many things in Mexico, it's influenced strongly by certain aspects of the Aztec people.
It has shaped the way those of us with that heritage look at life and death in many ways, and most importantly on the remembrance of, and honoring the deceased. We traditionally decorate little altars dedicated to the memories of those that passed away… but it's not a somber occasion.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation like this?

And then you magically find yourself in a suspiciously familiar site, except that you're not logged in, and it requires you to do so?
Well. Don't log in. This is a scam, and a cheap one at that.
There've been recent attempts to obtain Fimfiction users’ personal data, like passwords and/or emails through links like the one I'm making fun of above. And a distressing amount of people don't seem to know what phishing attempts are.

As should be obvious from 15 months without a feature, life has taken the Royal Canterlot Library curators in different directions. While there’s still plenty of awesome stories being written in the My Little Pony fandom, we’re no longer actively working to spotlight them, and it’s time to officially draw the project to a close.

Minor Rules and Reporting Update

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year.
Some small changes have been made to our rules as well as to the reporting process.
Rules
"No attacks directed at individuals or groups due to race, gender, gender identity, religion or sexual identity."
This better clarifies our previously ill-defined hate speech rule and includes groups as well as individual attacks.
"No celebration, glorification or encouragement of real life criminal activity."
This includes past, present and potential future crimes.

Someone might like this, made it for a bit of a laugh last night :)

Done a couple of things that needed doing ages ago today.

Complete/Incomplete: Stories can now be marked as complete or incomplete. You can do this in the edit story popup, it's just a drop down box. There will be a column most likely in the archive for it at some point.

Bios: You can now add a bit of text to your user page as a bio. Click the settings button in the bottom menu and you'll be able to edit it there. BBCode is supported so you can add images and whatnot.

Blog comments: Not entirely related to fanfic stuff, I know, but you can now comment on these blogs posts, so please feel free to tell me what sort of stuff you want to see developed and anything you'd like to see improved.

New Footer: Not exactly stunningly exciting stuff, but I redid the footer at the bottom of each page to make it a little less ugly. Still not entirely happy with it though.

Thoughts for tomorrow

Emoticons: Not overly a huge fan of them myself but I'm thinking of adding some pony emoticons. these ones to be precise:

Tracked Stories Page: This was an idea I had a while ago. Basically it'd be similar to the category/latest pages but it'd show you stories you're tracking where you have unread chapters. Could even extend that idea for an "unread" page showing all chapters on the site you haven't read.

That's about it for today I think.

Oh yeah I should have added that there really. Might be something I could quickly do tomorrow, it shouldn't be too difficult. Probably just a ton of code to change to filter out stuff....

I'm not a fan of emoticons usually, either, but the ones you picked out are cute. If when we type :( doesn't autochtoge to a Fluttershy crying and instead they're implemented as :cry: or something similar, I'd appreciate it. What might be easier is just a box you tick to show eponicons in your message or not.

As for everything else: yesyesyesyesyesyes! I love the new footer, it looks really nice. And complete/incomplete is awesome and I can't wait for a little column or notation to be available in the archive (and in the sidebar). Great work! That track page is a good idea, and I can see use for the unread chapters as well though maybe an unread story feature would be better?

You asked for it.

Right now, it's not that easy to find an author's profile page if you haven't their userID.
It might be useful to extend search so you can search by user name too, or replace the userID with the user name in the profile URL. (Like you did it with the story URLs.)

(Of course a deviantart-like <username>.fimfiction.net catchall DNS would be the icing on the cake, but I guess the current usernames aren't valid DNS names, so that's probably not doable.)

Anyway, keep up the awesome work!
