My forum thread here too... · 7:48pm Jun 8th, 2015
I go to a private school where most kids are stuck up and my language arts teacher treats me like a piece of crap. At home, my parents (AKA My mom and grandmother) fight up a storm until one of them has a breakdown and leaves. Don't get me started on my sister. She gives me death threats, beats m up, and steals my stuff. And my dad? Doing drugs and just out of jail. Great. I'm not sure how to deal with all this. On top of it all I'm dealing with depression and can't stop with the self-harm. My best friend (and myself) consider me the emo girl. What should I do? This is the most I've ever opened up, and I'm almost afraid to admit I need help...
Don't give up, trust me!
Don't you want to get married?
Have kids?
Things like self-harming may take away the mental pain, but it adds more physical pain.
I lost my dad, and I can't stand my mother. She's bipolar, and won't admit it or take meds.
My sister's about to give birth, and my brother recently returned from San Salvador on National Guard business.
My life isn't important right now though, yours is.
Don't hurt yourself anymore.
And don't use emo as your 'title'. People will just assume you're living in a kushy, lovey-dovey house with a wonderful family, and you're just trying to be an attention whore.
You're having life problems.
But don't worry.
Don't forget the whole life you still have left to live.
Nothing said here can help you. I cannot say I have been in your exact position, but I know the general feeling of depression and wanting to hurt yourself. No comments on the internet will have a magical cure, nor will bottling it up. I would suggest just admitting you need help and finding a professional.
I know, easier said than done. But trust me, it'll work.

Depression is, on a very basic level, not being able to just "buck up". Tell someone to "snap out of it", and it usually works, but if they have depression, it won't mean a damned thing. Nor will just telling them to stop hurting themselves or to stop identifying the way they do. In reality, saying those things is perhaps the worst possible thing to do-it makes them angry at both you and themselves, exacerbating the issue further.

No. Never. I'm almost proud to be an emo, in some twisted way.
Thank you this is very helpful advice
3160392 PrincessLuna seemed happy with part of what I said though.
I can see what you mean, though.
It's just what I've developed as a "Help people" kind of thing.
