Unlike some people who make it this high up, I continue to care about the people who follow me. I lost the follow of someone who I really liked and had followed me for a while just a few weeks ago. It was just one person, but it felt shitty to me because this was someone who had dedicated time to my work.
I'm a bit insulted, to be honest, that you think I'm vain because I care about my followers. It has nothing to do with vanity; it has everything to do with community.

There's a kind of nobility here that can't be denied, although I hoped it was obvious that people who unfollow you over a blog post weren't your followers anyways.
Either they so were so disappointed in you that they decided to move on, which would imply (arguably misguided) investment, or they were hardly in it to begin with, so either way it's not exactly a loss.
