Peregrine Caged

I miss the days--to all my fans and supporters, you were great. I leave a ghost, honest but neglected promises, and just the tip of the worlds I wished to share...

In Equestria's far past, when the Chaos lord ruled, in a fit of boredom he has summoned warriors and desperate souls from all of Equestria--from anywhere and anywhen they come to fight to the death in his Arena for their ultimate heart's desire.

Something Positive, Yes? A...Fairytale of sorts. The Tale of Jackal and Phoenix

So, one thing I have been doing is a lot of homebrewing and world building for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting, Alandria. Have a good game, a little over a year old now, going, and it really sparks my creativity. I long to reach a point where I can write stories and the like in my world, like certain others have done in the past. (Haaah, dreams.)

My Name is Jared DeZarn. I'm a Worthless Failure.

So heads up. I have had a bit more to drink than I meant to. I'm still, more or less, aware of myself. I won't be blacking out or anything. If anything, I'm kind of in a super aware state?

(Something of substance to come some other day, but I am still alive, just...a fucking idiot, as I always have been. Sorry.)

My God, He's Releasing Something New

Jaysus, I've been quiet here. In all ways, not just the writing side of life. Which sucks. I suck, yes.

Call to Help Finish the Games

So, the Games, as originally intended, are pretty much done. But that's not my fault--so I'll see them done, even if the overall exercise has been largely lost.

The Discordian Games: Round 1 Spotlights -- Fire Weaver vs. Zephyr · 8:34pm May 18th, 2015

For each of the pairings, I'll be doing a blog giving details on them. All this information is available here, with the full list of character bios. As well, I'll put a link directly to their fights and voting doc. Every Saturday, I'll post another one with a new pairing.

Now it's time for the hottest battle in the Games, from the speed to the spells to the stones themselves.

Battlefield: The Cerulean Caldera
This field is comprised of a huge, semi-dormant volcano. While from the outside it appears as any volcano would, with a decent-sized crater lake that has begun to slowly boil and let off steam, within the rocky walls are countless passages. Most lead to large, spacious caves below the crater lake, which have formed their own miniature ecosystems. What’s truly unusual, however, is the fact that the molten rock below is, instead of the normal fiery red, a brilliant blue in color and scented of blueberries. This blue magma is beginning to break through to the surface and runs through the rock in snakey veins, illuminating the caves in an eerie blue glow. In certain places, the magma has broken free of the walls, where it gathers and condenses into crystal formations of all sorts of sizes. They are hot to the touch and, if destroyed, begin a chain-reaction of explosions along the veins until they reach another crystal growth, which explodes with violent force, releasing the energy. This can damage the cave walls, causing collapse. And if too many of these crystals are destroyed, the reaction may well go too deep, disturbing the magma chamber below.

Fire Weaver
Race: Unicorn Pony
Description: With dark brown eyes and an ash-grey coat, Weaver’s fiery, red-orange mane is the largest detail that picks him out of a crowd. Even for a unicorn, he has a thin build, and he is slightly short. Though otherwise somewhat unremarkable in his looks, his permanent loss of half an eyebrow is a memorable feature. His cutie mark is that of blazing flame.
Origin: Far Past, Post-Nightmare, Canterlot
Capabilities: As might be obvious from his name, Fire Weaver is a unicorn who specializes in transmogrifying magical energy into thermal energy, manipulating it into various forms for a variety of purposes. Not only can he create flames in various sizes and intensities, he can manipulate thermal energy, transferring it to and from objects. Due to the volatile nature of the energies involved, he is much better at bigger, flashier spells, rather than fine-tuned precision. As well, as a trained Royal Guard, he has a basic understanding of combat in order to defend himself. Furthermore, being a magic specialist, his mind is sharp and quick under most circumstances.
Bio: Fire Weaver is one of a select few part of a special division of the Royal Guard. Tasked with special assignments beyond the capabilities of the Guard or requiring more sensitivity, he has been through much in his young life in the service of Princess Celestia. In time, he would come to fall in love with a comrade, an earth pony named Cursive Script. While the pair worked well together for a time, eventually, after a bad call made by Weaver, Cursive would become terribly injured, all but dead. Wracked with guilt and unable to apologize to the comatose Cursive, Weaver struggled with the decision to resign.
Motivation: When Weaver found himself caught up in Discord’s game and, beyond that, granted the opportunity to utilize his power, determination blazed in his heart. Fire Weaver swore on his honor he would win and use the draconequus’s powers to restore his love’s mangled body.

Zephyr
Race: Pegasus Pony
Description: This slightly taller than average pegasus has a soft grey coat and a wild, black mane. His body is streamlined for speed, rippling with lean, wiry muscle, and his crystal blue eyes sparkle with energy. His cutie mark is that of a storm cloud.
Origin: Modern Day
Capabilities: Zephyr has trained his body in every aspect of speed and mobility, making him one of the best fliers amongst his race. Whether with precision surprise strikes or a quick flurry of blows, despite his lack of training, Zephyr presents himself as a formidable opponent. His real strength, however, is his expertise with weather and, especially, storms. He can utilize his pegasi abilities to stimulate cloudstuff aggressively via shots of lightning. He’s even managed to develop a special technique to enhance his speed with an electrostatic boost.
Bio: Having lost his parents and his way at a young age to a freak tempest, the dying Zephyr was found by a pony named Doc who set his broken leg and nursed him back to health. When he could, however, the young colt flew straight into a powerful storm, hoping that, as a storm brought him to where he was, another might take him home; instead, he learned how to match the rhythm and flow of the storm, and gained his cutie mark in the process. Accepting his role in the world, he was raised by Doc, and became the small town’s weather pegasus. He proved a hard and skillful worker, and in his spare time he practiced his skills by building and conquering storms, steadily increasing the size and power to hone his abilities.
Motivation: Having found his place in life, only one question nagged at Zephyr. One question he’s hoping he can win the answer to, in Discord’s dark and violent game. Simply: What exactly happened to his parents?
