Peregrine Caged

I miss the days--to all my fans and supporters, you were great. I leave a ghost, honest but neglected promises, and just the tip of the worlds I wished to share...

In Equestria's far past, when the Chaos lord ruled, in a fit of boredom he has summoned warriors and desperate souls from all of Equestria--from anywhere and anywhen they come to fight to the death in his Arena for their ultimate heart's desire.

Something Positive, Yes? A...Fairytale of sorts. The Tale of Jackal and Phoenix

So, one thing I have been doing is a lot of homebrewing and world building for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting, Alandria. Have a good game, a little over a year old now, going, and it really sparks my creativity. I long to reach a point where I can write stories and the like in my world, like certain others have done in the past. (Haaah, dreams.)

My Name is Jared DeZarn. I'm a Worthless Failure.

So heads up. I have had a bit more to drink than I meant to. I'm still, more or less, aware of myself. I won't be blacking out or anything. If anything, I'm kind of in a super aware state?

My God, He's Releasing Something New

Jaysus, I've been quiet here. In all ways, not just the writing side of life. Which sucks. I suck, yes.

Call to Help Finish the Games

So, the Games, as originally intended, are pretty much done. But that's not my fault--so I'll see them done, even if the overall exercise has been largely lost.

The Discordian Games: Round 1 Spotlights -- Arika vs. Hoax · 10:34pm May 10th, 2015

For each of the pairings, I'll be doing a blog giving details on them. All this information is available here, with the full list of character bios. As well, I'll put a link directly to their fights and voting doc. Every Saturday, I'll post another one with a new pairing.

The honorable warrior will find her greatest challenge against the ringmaster of the circus of fear.

Battlefield: The Glades of Glass
This section of the Arena is composed of a relatively open, large series of rolling hills and fields. However, instead of trees and plants, glass spires and shards of obsidian dot the landscape, making it incredibly dangerous. Various areas are subject to different conditions--there are hills covered in razor sharp shards, plains that are so smooth one can not stand, shadowed valleys of darkened obsidian, and forests of reflective mirrors. The weather can also be incredibly dangerous. Lightning storms are common, though no rain, especially over the silica beach, meaning fulgurites are common there. Furthermore, silica cyclones occasionally rampage across the fields. Swirling vortexes of grit and deadly glass shards, these are perhaps the field’s most deadly hazard.

Arika
Race: Griffon
Description: Arika’s feathers are primarily grey in colour, though this can range from simply off-white to a much darker grey around the eyes. Her body is much the same, lending her a rather monochrome look at first glance.
Origin: Far Past
Capabilities: As a general, Arika possesses a skillful military mind, as well as her combat skills. She is a sword-wielding warrior with few peers, with the strength and stamina to fly in armor for long periods of time. Her griffon body is strong, durable, and decently agile in the sky. As well, she is driven enough that utilizing her claws for victory is a given.
Bio: Arika is a proud and respected leader of her tribe, having personally led them to victory time and time again. All her life she has known is war--full scale to minor skirmishes, she has taken place in them all.
Motivation: Coming from a time of constant war between the varying tribes of griffon, Arika seeks nothing less than the complete unification of her race under a single banner, ensuring lasting peace. Though she detests that the help must come from a non-griffon, if Discord’s promise rings true, she will rise to the top for use of his power.

Hoax
Race: Unicorn Pony
Description: Incredibly lithe, to the point of being bony, Hoax keeps her bright red mane scruffy. Her coat is grey, offsetting her deep purple eyes well. She ornaments herself with a skull necklace and spiked choker, with a small, round badge pinned to one ear. Her cutie mark is two masks, one smiling and one frowning.
Origin: Near Future
Capabilities: Hoax’s specialty with her spells are illusions of all sorts. Her very personality is tricksome and teasing, with a near-cruel cunning in her thought processes. She can create imaginary obstacles or copies of herself to distract and direct her opponent. Her talent is such that she can even appear to turn invisible for short stretches. Beyond that, her personality is a weapon all its own, paying attention to her opponent’s personal demons where she can. She is also equipped with a small dagger, for close combat.
Bio: Hoax was born amongst a traveling circus and grew up to be one of its star attractions with her masterful illusion spells. Over time, however, the circus began to lose its crowds, and life grew harder as money grew tighter. Finally, the circus collapsed and disbanded. This crushed Hoax, who had known no other life, no other home. She vowed to find a way to save the circus. Her psyche broken, rumors began trailing her path of a show of torment by “The Laughing Mare”, a nightmare used to scare little colts and fillies from wandering in the dark. But even adult ponies began to fear for the mysterious circus tents and strange, happy music that would creep in the night.
Motivation: Hoax desires nothing less than an audience who may never wander, therefore ensuring the circus--her home--can go back to the way it once was. The King of Chaos is a fellow trickster and lover of illusion, and has given Hoax the most hope she has known in a long time that she may finally have her wish.
