The first chapter has been edited and revised, and I'll be finishing the others post-haste. I am so, so sorry it took me this long to do, and frankly I have no true excuse that's good enough. I know you don't want to hear me whine about that for very long, so we'll get on to the actual changes, and why I made them.
I didn't like Alistair. Not as much as I should have, at least. When I first envisioned this story, I pictured an intelligent man with a propensity for getting into trouble. Someone I could have, over time, learn a bit more about the human condition surrounded by, ironically, no humans. And, yes, learn about the magic of friendship or possibly even romance. I ended up making a snarky, sarcastic ass with a lab coat who happened to be a bit smart.
I will be editing the following chapters to uphold the changes I've made over the course of the week. This will, however, be the only blog post I make until all edits are finished. I would highly suggest reading the new first chapter to get yourself acquainted with changes.

i would like to point out that you shouldn't delete the old chapters and replace them, just delete the old contents and paste the new in. fimfic has a bug that will still count old chapters that were deleted as still being there, which will inflate the unread count.
I forgot what story it was, but i once added a story that had 3 chapters but increased my unread count by 11.
i don't know how hard that would be to do for you, but i'm just letting you know about this ancient unfixed bug.
