    My Good Friend Needs Help

My good friend Majin Syeekoh needs your help. He set up a GoFundMe, and if you could all help him out a bit, I'd be forever grateful.

    NSFW IGO Poll

I Get Off is in the works, and in addition to the new chapter update, I would also like to write some straight up lewd shorts. I'm curious as to where would be more appropriate to post those shorts, right here on chillbook1 or on my NSFW alt. So I threw up a poll

If there's no particular consensus, they'll probably end up on LewdChapter.

    It's Back, And It's Finished

There was supposed to be more to this, but the guy who set that up... I'm not him anymore. So I wanted to give this story some proper closure even if it meant skipping a bit to the end. Sorry if it's a little sloppy, but I needed to do this.

Man, it feels good to see this thing marked as complete

My Thoughts on "Appleloosa's Most Wanted" · 8:37pm May 2nd, 2015

Didn't think I was gonna be able to see this one, but thanks to a little help from my whiny, punk-rock-emo alter-ego, I was able to squirm my way out of a weekend-long trip which would leave me without access to the internet for the duration. Whoo-hoo! So, without further delay, here are my thoughts on this week's episode, Appleloosa's Most Wanted.

Oh, and there will be spoilers. You have been warned.

Alright! I got really cozy for this one! Normally, I watch ponies with my baby sis, but she was away today, so it was all me! I popped some popcorn, grabbed a soda, and got ready for the episode. With a name like Appleloosa's Most Wanted, this has to be an Applejack episode. I was thinking Applejack battling a shady, no-good bandit, maybe with some sort of kid-friendly approximation of a revolver duel (don't ask me what that would be), maybe even a reference or two. I could just see it! Maybe Aj spits out a "six shots or only five", or "do you feel lucky, punk?" I didn't know much, but what I did know was that I was ready for an Applejack/outlaw stand-off.

And then, the first character you see is Applebloom. Ugh. Again?

Now, I make it no secret that Applebloom is easily my favorite Crusader (since Babs has... ascended). I love Crusader episodes! Applebloom is the cutest, and I can't help but laugh whenever she talks. Her accent is the best! But two Applebloom episodes so close to each other? I get it, an apple a day and what have you, but I was really waiting for Applejack to get her time in the limelight. Last time she had an episode dedicated to herself was 12 episodes and a movie ago! No wonder we keep calling her a background pony; Derpy has had more season 5 screen time than her (P.S. Give Derpy more screen time). But already the episode loses some points for not being about Applejack.

And then it gains all of them back, and then some, for having Braeburn.

Me: Ugh. Again? Another CMC episode? Oh, come on! I really wanted-
TV: Whoo-Hoo! Yee-haw! That's my cousin! Go, Applejack, go!
Me: I take it back, this is what I wanted!

I somehow wasn't expecting him to show up in season 5. We haven't seen him since, what? 3? And he's back, and he's playing a semi-major role, and he's back! [Insert obligatory "Everypony's gay for Braeburn" joke here]

All jokes aside, it was great to see him back, bantering with Aj near the beginning. I also love that they keep pushing the fact Braeburn is such a huge Applejack fanboy that he lost three small children because he was watching his cousin perform. It's goofy, but overall, entertaining.

Speaking of goofy but entertaining, this episode had a thing for visual comedy. The harmonica bit near the start, the mob scene after that, the broken matresses, the other mob scene... Kinda slapstick, and it gave the episode a more raw, "Season 1" kinda vibe. For this episode, it was okay, but I don't want every episode to devolve and resort to that sort of humor, after they've proven that they can do better than that.

I was super excited for Braeburn at first, but then he got kinda... dumb. Him losing the CMC at the start set off the warning lights in my head, but I didn't pay much attention. Then, when he tried to "Oh, no, My fore-leg" his way out of being yelled at, I was a little more "Ugh", but still, totally palatable.

Until the scene where he locks himself in his house with the CMC.

He promises to keep an eye on them, right? There's a dangerous outlaw by the name of Troubleshoes on the loose (he's wanted for ruining rodeos), and the Crusaders wanna go find him. He promises to watch them for Aj (why does Applejack still trust her cousin with the girls at this point?). Braeburn locks the door, sits his chair in front of it, and vows "not to let [the cutie Mark Crusaders] outta my sight!" First off, that scene made me instantly think "Oh my god, there are going to be so many foalcon/grimdark stories based on this". Second, I said out loud, "He's gonna fall asleep". And, wouldn't you know it? He does just that.

So, obviously, the girls go out in search of Troubleshoes. They go into what I can only describe as "Discount Everfree Forest" (*ding*). Sweetie Belle, the voice of reason (as per usual), suggests they head back and (also as per usual) is promptly and firmly ignored in favor of brashly and ignorantly leaping head-first into certain danger. They break into a house to escape sudden rain (caused, apparently, because pegasi are scumbags) and the house just happens to belong to Troubleshoes. He walks in, gets the saddle scared off of him, trips, wraps himself up, and falls to the ground. And I had only this to say.

He's a freaking horse! Not a pony, a horse! He's huge! At least as tall as Celestia, way thicker and sturdier than Big Mac, this guy can only be described as a true stallion, a frickin steed! And then he talks, and I instantly understand the entire situation.

He's not a criminal. He's derpy! (The adjective, not the pegasus). He's not evil, he has no malicious intent. He's just a horse who's clumsy and talks like Mark Twain. His story isn't particularly sad or tragic, just that he's clumsy, wanted to be in a rodeo, was so clumsy that the judges laughed at him while auditioning, he got his Cutie Mark, and made the assumption that his destiny was "bad luck".

Troubleshoes gets locked up, daring jailbreak, (Sweetie levitates a key off a nail! She's getting there), et cetera. All a huge misunderstanding. The CMC, but mainly Applebloom, help him to sort of reinterpret his Cutie Mark and he becomes a rodeo clown (By the way, I am fairly certain that rodeo clowns are not there to entertain the audience. I could be wrong, but I'm rather confident). Episode ends with a disappointed Applebloom griping about lack of Cutie Mark, Aj explaining that them helping Troubleshoes should've made them feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and the CMC agreeing that it "does feel kinda nice". Oh no. Are they saying what I think they're saying? No, no, no, there's no way the writers are that cruel. Are they going to make the CMC get their Cutie Marks in helping other people get their Cutie Marks? What an ironic twist of fate that would be!

Overall, I rate this episode at 6.5 out of 10. It was kinda awkward, kinda "on-the-nose", and it really ruined Braeburn for me. Jk, I still love Braeburn. I wish it was better, but it surely could've been worse.

So, those are my thoughts on the episode. Not that you asked, but I thought I'd share. If you like, throw in your two cents, and I will see you next week with my thoughts on Make New Friends But Keep Discord. (P.S. If this episode is the episode I think it is, this is going to be very high on my list of favorites!)

The Fluttercord shippers are gonna lose their shit next saturday. What do you think? :ajsmug:

3038020 You know, I've been trying really hard to make up my mind about how I feel about the whole Fluttercord ship. I just can't seem to settle on whether I love it or hate it.I ship Pinkieshy exclusively, but I kinda really like Fluttercord. But I also kinda hate it. Still, I'm sure that people far more talented than I will be doing something interesting with this episode. Discord must be very interesting when he gets emotional. I'm sure the stories and fanart will fly out the doors. How do you feel about it?

3038106 I can't decide whether or not i like it either! :derpytongue2: I ship Twicord or Dislestia, which are the only things holding me back from shipping it. :derpytongue2: Shipping aside, Discord episodes are the best because he's such a interesting character.
