Finished At Last! (Sort of...) · 8:08pm Apr 30th, 2015
It's finished! Finally! All it took was...dear Celestia, ten months! Bloody Tartarus that seems like forever ago...well, regardless of how long it's taken, it's finally finished! My first ever multi-chaptered story is finally complete at almost 70k words! Time to go celebrate with Blackjack and Apple Cider. But before that, let's answer a few preemptive questions.
1) Is there a sequel planned?
Yes. Obviously I left a fair bit of mystery at the end and I do plan to come back to this and continue the tale. I even have a pretty good outline as to how this story is going to be told and exactly what is going to happen next. However, there has been one project that has been sitting on the back burner for a bit too long now...
2) So what's next then?
No Plan Survives Contact. At the very least I have plans for one more chapter, hopefully two, before I start yet another project that I've had bouncing around in my mind. My intention is to never keep more than two stories as 'incomplete' at any given time...which might or might not succeed depending on my mood really.
3) Are you going to leave Flash Sentry alone now?
I make no promises.
4) Wait, back up, did you say you're starting a new project?
Yes. One that has been in the mental works for some time now. Still in the early stages of development but the more episodes that come out for the fifth season, the more I think the idea has merit, and this one could be quite a bit longer than Winds of Change.
5) Can we get a hint at least?
Oh alright...
All teasing and joking aside, I've had a wonderful time writing this story and I've greatly appreciated all the support I've gotten for it. If you haven't already or even if you have, I'd love to hear back from my audience with comments, upvotes, downvotes, favorites, or long-winded rants, whatever suits your fancy. It's been an absolute blast getting back into fanfiction with this new fandom and hopefully I'm not going to burn out like I did last time.
I think it was very well written, weaving in elements of action, adventure, mystery and then some. Looking forward to that sequel you mentioned...ETA though?
OMG sequel someone needs to implement Hug-Over-IP.

As fun as the story was, it doesn't seem likely that I'll hang around for the sequel. The TwiDash shipping sub-plot didn't seem to fit. Because you had to focus on the main plot, you didn't have time to work on the character development sufficiently to make it work. It also wasn't integral enough to the plot. I tried reading it with and without the shipping, and didn't make any difference.
The Chrysalis shipping, however, was admittedly handled much better. She's already rather cryptic about her feelings and what she says could be romantic, but it can also be interpreted as mere friendship or begrudging alliance. The transition between these three states is blurry enough to work. It was also worked in to be integral to the main plot. I gotta give you credit for that.
I'm still geeking out about Chrysalis's "Taste the Rainbow" moment, blasting the other queen with the weaponized friendship wielded by Twilight and her friends on several prior occasions.

Same here. Overall the story was exceptional; Twilight’s interaction with Chrysalis was perfect. The TwiDash felt tacked on. I take notes on stories I've read; my notes for this say, "101% chance of herd/harem ending." Not that TwiDash is necessarily bad (even I wrote one) but given the description, cover art, and opening chapters, it's not what I came looking for.
Finally time to read it then, tomorrow morning is gonna be so shitty (if I even sleep at all)

3034997 Well, I'm going to be putting out a chapter for No Plan Survives Contact first at the very least which might take around two weeks since I'm in the outline phase of that chapter right now. After that? Full tilt ahead into the new project.

I just finished reading Winds of Change and enjoyed it. I laughed hard when I got towards the end of the epilogue where Chrissy and Rainbow are talking outside Twi's shield.
I look forward to the sequel.
