Somedays, I sit, looking at the stars. I muse and wonder. I meditate and reflect. And I find the miracle in a new day of life. Especially since I swallowed so much glass the day before.

The Final Table-Setting (We need your help!) · 3:32am Apr 27th, 2015

Hey there!
If you're getting this blog and you aren't watching me, most likely you've added the story Table for Two to one of your many influential libraries. And for that, let me say, I am very grateful for.

We're pushing into the final stretch here, and we're about to come up into the very final chapters. So thanks to all who've supported and enjoyed this grand project, and thanks for all who've stuck it out until now.

So, here's what we have.

We have only THREE more chapters left until the very end. One more conversation, one more that will bring an end to B-plot's ordeal (No spoilers here for those who haven't read it yet but are intending to once the whole thing is complete), and one very special chapter that will answer the very last question.

And I need your help with the final conversation.

Table for Two was always envisioned as a sort of group effort, which is why I managed to get so many cool dudes to lend their voices to the story. This, of course, extends to the readers who didn't have a chance to participate in other ways (but there'll be plenty of room for that later, more information once the story wraps up.)

At the start, the story was open for suggestions. But after getting a whole bunch of good ones, along with some ideas I had for my own, I was able to fill in a lot of spots, so I stopped the suggestion train. I'd like to return back to the start, and have the final conversation be something born from the minds of you, the reader.

So toss in your ideas! Give me anything you want. It can be a prompt word, it can be a short summary of an idea - "I've always thought it'd be cool if blah blah blah" - or even just the two characters you think would be fun to have interact. If I find one that I think I can write about, I'll go ahead and do just that.

But here's a little steering for ya, in case some of you decide to tell me to write more Rock chapters again.

Since it's the final chapter, something themed about endings or new beginnings would be appropriate. Something melancholic, slightly serious, maybe a bit funny if we can do it, but nothing too dark or nothing too outworldly humourous. Let's keep this one like how the series started. Look to the first couple chapters to see what I'm talking about.

So, with that, let's see what you guys can come up with. And let's see what I can do with your little nuggets of gold.

Thank you all, so very much, for reading and joining in.

And let us meet at the Table for a final farewell.

Yours,
KR

Well to keep symmetry, how about: Sadness - Applejack and Pinkie Pie (or perhaps if you want a fancier word, but one with more interesting connotations, saudade).

Well, Celestia and Luna are always a good pair for conversations. Though I also had the idea of Luna and Cadance having a bonding chat about the things that drive them crazy about Celestia. Luna growing up with her and Cadance having lived with her for a while. Making each other about the only pony they can commiserate with about that subject.

I don't know who should be a part of the conversation, but if the aim is to have a conversation about endings, "the check" would be a good prompt, I think.

I've always thought it would be cool for Discord and Luna to have a serious talk about how similar their pasts are. Of course, it is Discord, so things would be silly, but I feel like those two could really connect in a unique way. Both of are trying to adapt and make friends in a world that is unfamiliar and strange to them. This in itself is both an end of one lifestyle and the beginning of another, and gives potential for both humor and a sense of melancholy.

I've been awake far too long to tell if this idea is any good, to be honest.

Maybe a princess talk? Any combo, but maybe a Twilight/other conversation. I dunno, I'm feelin some royal talking.

Given it is endings, I would suggest either Celestia-Twilight (Referencing one door closing, another opening on Twilight's life), Celestia-Luna (How life has changed since their youth, or else the pair looking towards a new uncertain future) or either pairing with something ruminating on how they are constants in a whirlwind of lives always ending around them and how that pulls them apart.

Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash talking about what makes a good ending to something makes sense to me. Rainbow would defend how she likes endings where the hero always succeeds, things go well, and there is a sequel set up (i.e. the Daring Do books) while Twilight prefers endings that aren't necessarily good or bad, give a sense of closure, and has the main character dying to achieve their goals. Expand on this however you would like.

You want an idea that is not only an ending, but also a beginning, with some room for humor & some for seriousness? Try this one:

What if the world ended...
For just...
One...
Day?

And the next day, everything went back to normal?

You work that like you want it to, or talk to me if you like the idea, & possibly want some development. I haven't even written my first fic yet, its only about 1,000 in, I think.

Edit: You might even be able to work in more scootaloo confusion Q&A somewhere, leave us with a final inquiry to ask ourselves, something we can choose to answer, choose to believe, or simply choose to question...

Someone's more than a little mad...

3020728
He's (and his alt account) has been doing this for a very long time, to a lot of people. Basically, this guy is unable to tell the difference between objectivity or biasness when it comes to Spike being used in anything. When you don't use Spike, he gets mad that you don't. If you do use Spike, he gets mad that you didn't make him the main character. When he's the main character, he gets mad that he isn't used good enough.

Every single one of his posts on any of my stories (and other people's, too!) is pretty much the same thing -- a faint pretense of interest followed by all the hate that you didn't use Spike arharhahrarg. I was kinda expecting this post, which has led to me blocking all his accounts (which was long overdue.)

Oh, and I also know about his habit of downvote bombing, because he used to do this same stuff with a guy who used to work for the site. And yeah, I'm only just saying this so that he knows that I know, and that he also should know that I'm monitoring numbers and will not hesitate to contact a mod to check out any ugly behaviour.

Now, that aside...

Got any good ideas? :coolphoto:

3020739 So much of this is wrong. (a "habbit" of downvote bombing!?) You're acting like the angry, whiny bitch people sometimes accuse me of being.

"The Check" (or is that cheque?) would be an amazing prompt to end on.

Kinda proving that for yourself, buddy.

This blog is for peeps to share ideas. Please do not post in here again. Please do not REPLY to me again. Do not talk to me on my user page. All of your comments will be deleted from this point on, and your actions will be filed for my eventual report to the mods should you choose to continue this line of behaviour. If you wish to continue discussion in a rational manner, PM me.

I would very much like to see Star Swirl the Bearded and that green dragon from season one finally confess their love for one another.

I've always wonder what exactly Twilight and Spike were on a break from way back at the beginning of the first episode of the show. Clearly they used to be secret agents for Celestia before retiring to Ponyville to become world-saving heros.

One idea I've been wanting to do was "Flight" with Cherry Berry, Ponyville's earth pony aviatrix, and a pegasus. Preferably one who wasn't very good at flying. I guess either Derpy Hooves or Fluttershy.

I believe you have my idea already via PM :D

But if you want more grist for the mill, here are a few things that rolled out of me. I know they're not likely; I'm just hoping to tickle your Muse if nothing else.
What if the Cheerilee from Cheerilee's Thousand showed up with a date... or to get weirder, tried to date The Owner?
Luna is out Dreamwalking and finds somepony dreaming about The Cafe. She investigates and has a startling conversation.
Golden Harvest shows up and discusses farming with Applejack. They aren't normally friends, and may not even particularly like each other. But the Cafe helps them see each other as on the same field, as it were (pun intended) and they part amiably. Perhaps this means they could become friends. Golden leaves behind the little bag she was carrying, and The Owner scoops it up with a smile: it's the herbs they've been waiting for to add to a creation for one of their special guests.

That's it for now. Thanks for the great stories!

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

Well, you taught me a new word today, so thanks for that XD
That's actually a really interesting concept.

3020624
You know what, I really really loved this concept. And it was kind of the ones that I wanted to play with, but unfortunately I can't take it because it's very very much too similar to another story I'm working on with this exact concept down to the same players, even. But I just wanted you to know, otherwise, this would have been a winner.

No. Fuck you. >=(
