Best Episode Ever? **Tanks for the Memories Spoilers** · 8:18pm Apr 25th, 2015
Okay, apart from the Nod to Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First" sketch, the whole cuteness of Tank, the animation done for the weather factory explosion and the "nuclear" winter, this episode might be my favorite ever for another reason.
It was the perfect look at the 5 stages of grief.
1. First is Denial. Rainbow obviously shows this when she refuses to believe that Tank actually has to hibernate for months, and be away from her for months.
2. Second is Anger. Everybody keeps mentioning how he needs to hibernate, and Rainbow is fed up with it and doesn't know what to do. So she lashes out at her friends.
3. Third is Bargaining. So Rainbow is starting to realize that there might not be any way to stop the inevitable. So with this feeling of helplessness, she turns to a solution that obviously isn't going to work because of how absurd it is. But she does it anyway, because it is warped in her mind at the moment, and she really does believe stopping winter is an option.
4. Fourth is Depression. Rainbow realizes whatever is going to happen, will happen, no matter how much she tries to stall and prevent it. So she, complete with long crying spells and sadness, mourns the loss of Tank for a few months as he hibernates.
5. Last, is acceptance. Rainbow finally lets Tank go and hibernate, and she is ready to move on for a couple months without him, knowing that it isn't the end of the world and life will go on.
So yeah, this might be my favorite episode now. Because how they did this was brilliant.
Season 5 continues to pass with flying colors huh?

You sit hit the nail on the head on what I was thinking when I saw this episode.
If they said that Tank was going to DIE in this episode, the five stages would have an even greater effect on Rainbow.
Farewell Tank. Most awesome Tortoise ever. You will be missed until you awaken once more.
Holy crap, I didn't even notice that they did that. It makes sense though. I loved this episode because it felt like a natural progression of Rainbow's desperation. And seeing that it followed the levels of grief is actually pretty ingenious.
I gotta ask. How did you notice this? Did you read it somewhere else, or did you notice it yourself? I'm just curious, cause that's a really cool observation.
