MLP Review: Season 5 Episode 1 and 2 Cutie Map · 3:13am Apr 5th, 2015

Hello there, my name is the Autistic Writer. I am here to tell you all my thoughts on this episode of Seaon 5. So, let’s get the ball rolling.

How does this episode compare to the other season premieres?

I felt this was my least favorite of the season premieres. I mean I wasn’t blown away by it. It just felt like an episode that was in the middle of the show’s season. I mean I know a season premiere is supposed to be amazing, but I never got that from watching this episode.

What did you like about it?

I liked how Pinkie felt suspicious of their smiles. People even ask me why is Pinkie my favorite pony of the mane six? I think that this episode just proved it. I felt it was really neat that we have a pony that could take away cutie marks. I felt the lesson of unique talents was semi established.

What didn’t you like about this episode?

Well, I felt that the creepy town could have been a bit more original. It just seemed they were throwing the creepy town cliché from every movie possible with a creepy town. I felt that some parts of the episode was rushed. There are some scenes like the song in the episode where the pacing was just right, but other times like in Twilight’s castle, the episode felt very rushed. That’s just my opinion though.

Was there anything that stuck out to you?

Actually, there was one thing that bothered me about the episode, but I would just be rambling on something that was minor and it’s a kid’s show.

Overall, this episode gets a 7.1 out of 10. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode.

Nice assessment of the season premier my friend:trollestia: Wow, now that you brought it up, this episode felt more like a in the middle of the season episode rather than the first two episodes of a season kind of thing:pinkiegasp: Brilliant!:raritystarry: Haha indeed, this episode was just perfect for Pinkie Pie. She was best pony in this little adventure for sure:heart: What was the thing that you didn't want to ramble about?

Well, it was during Starlight Glimmer's first meeting with the Mane Six. She was interested in Twilight and she told her that she was an alicorn, so that automatically made her a princess.

Now, we know that every alicorn we have seen is a princess, but that still makes me a bit uncomfortable as i felt she was stereotyping Twilight. I mean i know it's minor complaint and it's a kid's show, but i can't help but feel that there are other alicorns out there that aren't princesses. I mean that was throwing me off while i was watching the episode.

Yeah, I can see why you were uncomfortable. In a way, this helps make Starlight a villain and establishes her contradicting way of thinking because she is stereotyping others. Not only does this not help build harmony, but it's against her whole equality theme.

Yea, i guess you do have a point there, it still sounds wrong though. But, it was still a good episode nonetheless.

Yea, it's still wrong on so many levels but I agree it's a good episode regardless:twilightsmile:
