    Never A Dull Moment

Thank you all for helping me out back in May  The support means the world to me, and thanks to your kind contributions I was able to go and visit my boy in Britain. I'll try and mock up a proper recap blog—though I am notoriously terrible at doing those, I don't think I've ever managed a proper recap blog for any of the various conventions I've gone to over the years. I guess there was

So, I just watched the new episodes with about 2,000 other people at BABScon.

To be honest, I was expecting it to be pretty cringy; a mix of all types of bronies, packed together, watching 40 minutes of the show sounded like it was going to be a disaster. And yet, I was pleasantly surprised! Even during the pre-show gathering in the room, where they played the Smile song and a lot of people sang a lot, I did not feel searing autism melting away my flesh—instead, I felt this strange, new emotion, and after tons of googling and research, I discovered that for the first time in my life I felt what experts denote as the emotion of "joy".

It was pretty nifty. People sang along to the theme song, but it wasn't even that bad. The feeling of companionship that I lack everywhere else that can only be provided at conventions like this is too overpowering for me to make fun of. Sure, it may sound stupid, but god dammit, stupid feels so good.

Woah, dank spoilers ahead:

As for the episode itself, I thought it was fantastic. The new ponies are ripe for the picking, we've got a few new areas to contend with, and SJW Equality Pone is on the room, which should provide some sweet opportunities. Fluttershy was actually useful for once, and the jokes were solid. They wrote Pinkie as an actual character with dimension, not just some random annoyance machine.

Things are looking up.

In other news, tumblr seems to be raging about this episode because they think that this is an actual jab at them instead of that just being a joke made by /mlp/ and associated acts. Doesn't surprise me, tbh, I think they have a fetish for drama.

Anyway, how'd you all like the episode? Did it lay any stories in your brain like some sort of horrible idea botfly? I myself have my eyes on that sexy stud, Double Diamond...

I was equally impressed with it.
Lots of great screen-cap opportunities.

Pinkie Pie will have none of your shenanigans.

But they missed a great opportunity to call the episode "Cutie Marx".

Tumblr bitches about everything. What they don't get is that it was more about communism rather than them.

I thought it was the best two part episode, in my opinion. I loved the new characters that debuted in it and Starlight Glimmer makes for an interesting villain. The action was fun, the comedy was great, and the only issues I had were nitpicks, to be honest. Simply, put it's already near the top of my favorite episodes list.

>experiencing anything other than autism or disgust
You digust me you autist

Maybe it's because I grew up reading the classic dystopian novels (you know, the big three), but the premise for the premier bothered me immensely.

Seems like a society where everypony is equally average would crumble under its own ineptness. Even 1984 acknowledged that you need people who specialize in certain fields (writers, mathematicians, etc.) to have a stable and powerful community, albeit one that screams Stalinism. :trixieshiftleft:

I suppose SJW's could assume the episode is a commentary on them, though it could also criticize communism. And yet neither seems as relevant to modern day America as, say, people trading in their freedoms for pleasure, or hive-minded liberals taking over education.

The cutie mark is, by itself, an already sinister thing. I don't know about you, but destiny (something the show has a hard-on for) is terrifying. As far as the equal sign cutie marks go it's basically trading in one dystopian characteristic for another.

Is Equestria actually a dystopia mistakenly advertised as a utopia?

Are we really the playthings of a cosmic puppeteer, or an invisible space wizard? :twilightoops:

This is all, of course, irrelevant, but I feel like I had to get it out there. :unsuresweetie:

I liked the episode because the villain was the dead opposite of Twilight. That's what Twilight could have become if she hadn't put friendship first. Twilight understands that harmony is to be discovered. Starlight Glimmer believes she can create harmony. Very philosophical and deep. Lots to think about. Great episode.

I want to know more about the 8 artifacts they mentioned. And I want to see an AU version of Background Pony where Lyra gets tied to Nameless Town instead of Ponyville. Heheh...

Thinking this was about SJWs made this 10x funnier for me

Did I like the episode with village where everyone has lost their cutiemarks and the aesop about how special talents are to be celebrated?

Why, yes. I believe I did.

:facehoof:

I'm sorry, I just need a moment...

But yes, Double Diamond is a sexy stud.

This episode was ON POINT.

I especially liked how three dimensional the characters were, particularly Starlight Glimmer. You get the impression that she has actually personal motives for doing what she does, and on top of that, she's just a normal unicorn. A nice change in scenery.

I also like how the writers seemed to be much less concerned with making a new "epic" villain or situation to outdo the last one. That would be kind of hard to do after the Season 4 Finale, anyway, and it was refreshing to see them make a more "Slice of Life" style two-parter.

Glad you liked it, too, and enjoy BABScon, Regi!

I watched it last night before going to bed. Sugar Belle struck a chord with me with her adorableness, and not just cause of her name. It's totally the name.

I can't watch it right now because I'm in Israel, and I don't think they're actually showing it here. I'm looking forward to it, though!! And I'm glad you enjoyed BABScon, and that you were happy. It definitely isn't stupid that you liked it.

2945017 well, see, you actually have to go out and talk to people instead of curling up near the vendor booths and sobbing
