Ladies and gentlemen, I'm afraid I'm leaving the fandom for waters unknown.
Honestly, that's a little disingenuous. In practice I haven't truly been a part of this fandom for a long time. I haven't earnestly enjoyed the show since... I can't even remember how long. It's not that I hate it. I still admit that I find its quality mark far and above what the average is for animation aimed at families these days. However, I don't have any passion for the show or even the admittedly stellar fan art it inspired anymore. I've felt this way since at least this past November.
So why have I stayed? You fine people. You guys have truly been a blessing and an honor to get to know and work with. I can honestly say that many a time I have logged on and it has brightened my day to see you all gallivanting about with your ponies. Truth is, I just liked you guys too much to get myself to leave. However, recently I realized that is no reason to stay. The simple fact is that I don't have any passion for ponies anymore and all my writings on them is forced to put it lightly. I've been trying to stay active because I don't want to lose this community, but caught in a paradox that all the original fiction I've been working on is unpublishable here.
So, it is with a heavy heart that I resign from Fimfiction at this time. I want to stress that this is not because I am angry, sad, or otherwise emotionally upset. It's just my time to move on. That said, I do love you guys' company, so I am inviting the lot of you to come follow my literary blog at The Thinking Bench to stay in touch and see what new projects I'm working on. One of my FiM stories, All Along the Watchtower, is being rewritten as an original fiction story and several new short stories are just awaiting my sober editing to be posted, so if you like historical fiction, scifi, fantasy, or southern gothic stories- or just like my writing style- then I recommend you mosey on over.
Welp, It's been really fun, you guys, and the lot of you have been the best crew an old salt could ask for. I hope to see you lot again on many future adventures. Til then, "take what you can; give nothing back."
