RIP Terry Pratchett · 4:17am Mar 13th, 2015
Still working on the next chapter, though this blog post is less about the story and more about something that happened yesterday.
I'm not sure how many have read Discworld, written by Terry Pratchett. It's a fantastic series that pokes fun at everything from fantasy tropes to contemporary issues. Every character has their own voice, every story can bring a smile to your face one moment and make you think the next. It's probably my favorite book series, and has had the greatest influence on my style of writing.
Sadly, eight years ago Terry Pratchett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and since then he had done everything he could to fight it while still writing his Discworld stories, among others. That fight came to an end yesterday; he died at home at the age of 66.
I'm really going to miss him. The man was truly one of a kind.
If you can, try to pick up a few books of his from Amazon, a bookstore, or your local library. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Terry Pratchett and that World of his was the reason I was so hyped when I saw the name Mort. Here on this site in your story. Cheers to the Turtle and the Lady.
Pinkie finally gets to make her bestest party ever.
Isnt that right Gummy.
SQUEAK.
I'm only just starting to read the Discworld series. I regret that I did not begin sooner. I may not be overly familiar with the series just yet, but I have heard some of Mr. Pratchett's musings on the nature of fiction, and I have enjoyed them greatly. He believed that storytelling is intrinsic to the human experience, with which I agree completely, and speculated that storytelling is in fact humanity's second-oldest profession (further noting that the oldest is "flint-knapper, no matter what you may have heard").
This was sad news.
