    Next story

As I wait for my proofreader to respond to me, I've been thinking of what to do for another story. I was thinking about Braeburn and a minor character like Zecora, Fleur, or the Spa Twins.

Prompt 4 · 3:20pm Jan 31st, 2015

In the basement of a derelict building in a corner of Manehattan, a collection of ponies were huddled together, listening to Goldstein giving a speech.
"I am not against government, as you may have heard ponies say," He said. "I am simply against this kind of government, one where a select few where placed in total power because of millennia-old law that has been lost to time. The government I strive for is one where every pony is their own master. One where the ponies have the power to choose who leads them and the power to choose what happens to them. Celestia's rule has rotted and decayed, to the point where she must rely on secrecy and lies to keep us tranquil. Despite this, you must not think of her as evil. You must think of her as a mother who refuses to believe that her children have grown up. We must tell her that it is time for her to let go and for us to move on."
One pony raised a hoof.
"But we have mayors in towns all over. Isn't that democracy?"
"That is simply an illusion of control. We may be able to choose our mayors, but they all still have to answer to Celestia."
"But haven't times been peaceful under Celestia's reign?" Another asked.
"We have had peace, yes, but these recent times had been sullied with chaos and destruction, upon which Celestia has given the responsibility to six unwittingly drafted soldiers. Instead of dealing with matters herself, Celestia let it all happen in order to achieve a self-fulfilling prophecy. If peace means we must accept a deadening status quo, then that is not the peace we should strive for."
More hooves were raised, but Goldstein merely held up his.
"I know you have more questions and I would answer them all if I could. But we have been here for too long and now we must part before we are discovered. Be safe on your ways home and never give up hope for a new tomorrow."
Quickly and silently, the meeting dispersed, ponies sifting out of the building and into the darkness, leaving behind nothing, save for a pair of posters.
'Wanted: Goldstein. For crimes and Equestria and Celestia"
"Report the Brotherhood! This dangerous group of radicals plan to uproot the very foundation of Equestria!"

I like where this is going. But i think that the Mane 6 would defend Equestria even without Celestia orders, because they are the only one who can face powers greater than the royal sisters.
