Hey pony-people,
I'd like your opinion on something.
I've been considering doing some sketches for scenes in the story and just adding them at the end of the associated chapters.
What I'd like to know is if you think this would take away from your enjoyment? Break your mental picture of the characters and settings?
They'd just be pencil sketches since I just don't have the time to do full clean-up and color, so they'd be very rough.
Anyway, just a thought.
As long as they are at the end of the chapter, and not spread throughout. When I see them in the middle of a chapter, it really breaks my imersion
Yeah sure at the end of the chapter OR when you introduce a new character and you have a picture of him drawn out
Kind of depends on the quality of the sketch for me. Something really rough or poorly done tends to detract more often than not.
Some of the more complex descriptions could look good as a drawing. For example lighthoof the knight
If you want, you could link them in authors notes so everyone doesn't see them if they don't want to. I have no quarrel with it, personally, but everyone isn't me.
I've never had a problem with images breaking my mental interpretation so I wouldn't mind.
I'm all for it! We're far enough into this story that I think my mental image is pretty solid. It would be neat to see your ideas!
Hard to say without an example. As mentioned above, if it's particularly rough then it could easily detract.
I say... do it! but das just me, I like pretty pictures
I say link at the end of the chapter AND give a brief description about what the picture is so that if we have an image in our head that we like we don't ruin it.

Might be nice to see what your, the author's, idea of things might look like.
I dont mind. It would give some better imagination and spacific model of the character. But will it affect on how long each chapter will be posted if drawing is included?

Nah. Sketches are easy for me. It's the clean-up and color work that consumes a lot of time.

I agree with the general consensus, links in the author's notes with a description of what it is. Although, hyperlinking words in the story could work as well. That way it's right there with the scene it belongs in, while being subtle enough to not break anyone's immersion. Then again, having to search back through the chapter once you've reached the end just to check out the sketches after the fact could get bothersome, especially on mobile devices, so perhaps both methods should be employed, just to be safe. In any event, it's your story, and you can do whatever you want with it. Your story already made me respect you as an author, your continued concern for your readers' thoughts and feelings has earned you my respect as a person. Sorry for getting rambly there, just wanted to give you an idea of the positive impact you've had on me, and probably quite a few others.
TL;DR: Links in the scenes and author's notes ,you're awesome and should definitely stay that way.
I would love to see how you see the characters. Cant wait for the next installment of the best fanfic I think I have ever read. :) Idk how many you read, but if I could recommend one, its not as good as yours in my opinion, but still pretty amazing to say the least. Warning though. it is AU. Its called RE:Harmony.

I personally like the idea, you can try with one chapter and see it's results.
