So earlier this month, I went to Haiti for ten days. My group and I bought and installed three water tanks and purifiers for some local schools/churches, and assisted in fixing 9 hand water pumps, and did maintenance on one (I personally assisted with two of the purifiers/tanks, 7 of the hand pump repairs, and the pump maintenance.) We also took a group of orphan girls to a beach resort for a day. The trip was amazing, I saw so much and met so many great people, including a local Haitian named Jaune who is one of the greatest human beings I have ever met. And while I could spend hours talking about the trip, there is one thing in particular that I wish to discuss here. This trip has given me a deepened appreciation for Scootaloo.
I always bought into the fanon that Scootaloo is a crippled orphan. While a lot of people find this fanon disturbing, I've always loved it. To me, Scootaloo was a little girl who has had everything taken from her, but she is still able to smile and enjoy life. When given such hardships, you can either break down, or you can become strong, and Scootaloo is stronger than many grown men.
But before now, this was all just a theoretical concept to me. After going to Haiti though, I have met just such people. I met so many people who have had such hard lives, people who had to walk 6 miles one way in order to get a bucket full of dirty water, and actual orphan girls. Despite all they've been through though, they can still laugh and smile. I knew people like this existed, but seeing it with my own eyes was...something...
And now that that's out of the way, I have some good news! I plan to start releasing stories again! I've had a few things in the works for a while, and one of them is almost done. In fact, it should be done within a week (and if it's not you all should start yelling at me until I finish it.) I've recently moved again, and I'm trying to get a weekly schedule down, and I promise to try to include writing into that schedule.
I know I'm not exactly a front-page writer, but I have collected some follows and favorites. I still even get a comment from time to time. I do enjoy writing for you all, and I hope I can provide you all with more stories that you'll enjoy.
