    Black Science

Anyone who's interested in a non-MLP work written by me, I have a new module on my userpage that links to a new fic I'm working on. I'd like to get some foot traffic on it at both FF.net and AO3. So go ahead and check it out!

How The Friendship Games should have ended

Despite the fact that it's been awhile since the movie, I decided that the ending of Friendship Games was somewhat unsatisfactory, in regards to how Principal Cinch was dealt with. I've decided to take that scene and change it. This is the result.

PFIV Chapters 1-4 Updated, Side Projects

So, after far too much dilly-dallying, I finally got my derriere in gear, hunted down my muse, and am in the process of refurbishing the earlier chapters of Pony Fantasy IV. This will lead into the next full chapter being released, hopefully by the end of the year, although I make no promises on that account.

    Turnabout Storm and RavenRegios

So, for those who don't know, I was somewhat involved in writing the last few chapters of the novelization of Turnabout Storm. This particular novelization, on the recommendation of the redoubtable Firesight, highly expanded on the material from the

    New Story

While not technically 'new' anymore, and not under my aegis, I would like to promote a story I'm working on with the redoubtable Firesight, who edited and later authored the novelization for Turnabout Storm.

Turnabout Storm Side-Story Contest Rules · 4:46am Jan 25th, 2015

So, as some of you may know by now, I've been involved in the writing of the Turnabout Storm novelization. Chapter 64 (the one yet to be released at the time of this posting) has an added twist: a contest for a side-story involving Miles Edgeworth, Rarity, and my OC for the novelization, Delta Requiem. The winner of the contest will have their story linked to as the 'canon'.

Some ground rules:
1. Though Edgeworth can and will nail several suspects, Blueblood cannot be found guilty of any wrongdoing, despite how apparent it’s been made in previous chapters. I like to think of him as something other than an idiotic fop, so he’s covered his tracks, and covered them well. I know Edgeworth has a knack for finding hidden trails, but there’ll be a dead end, this time. Don’t worry… he’ll get his comeuppance in the sequel.

2. No murders during the investigations. This sounds strange for an Ace Attorney-based fanfic, but this is a corruption investigation. Murder is extremely uncommon in Equestria (as in, hasn’t happened in centuries uncommon), so please don’t break that rule. I’m doing that myself in the sequel, no need to complicate things.

3. Keep the timeline in mind. Turnabout Storm is set after Justice for All, but before case 2 of Trials and Tribulations. This means that Edgeworth has not reunited with Kay Faraday, nor has he had experience with psyche-locks. Please don’t mention events that take place in T&T or either Investigations game, to say nothing of Apollo Justice or Dual Destinies. Foreshadowing is fine, so long as there aren’t direct references. In other words, if somepony brings up Edgeworth possibly being a defense attorney, he can scoff and say, “Me? Behind the defense bench? That’s patently absurd!” in a foreshadowing of the final case of T&T.

4. Know your characters. I can’t tell you how disappointing it is to find an otherwise-decent story be ruined by poor characterization. This may sound like I’m repeating advice from the mods, but it bears repeating. For the record, Delta is meant to be a kind, loyal mare who’s devoted to her work. She’s portrayed as being somewhat harsh at points during Trixie’s trial because she’s doing her job as a prosecutor. Though she’s the head of the Judicial Review board (and bonus points if you can work in Fair Verdict’s hearing!) she’s also the Court Bard; she’s an entertainer and information broker by trade normally. As for Edgeworth and Rarity, play the games / watch the show for their characters, respectively.

5. Shipping Rarity and Edgeworth… is going to be difficult, as Phoenix noted in this chapter. If you DO try to sail that ship, you’d best have a darn good explanation for how Rarity cracked Edgeworth’s shell.

6. Most importantly, have fun, and don’t feel pressured. We’ve taken our time with this fic, you can take your time as well. Don’t feel you have to complete it before we finish this one, or even before the start of the sequel. And your fic doesn't have to be complete at the time of submission, either. Just give Firesight and I a chance to evaluate your writing and buildup, and you'll be golden!

Hmm. That would be quite the tale. I don't dare throw my hat in the ring just yet, but I think I will explore some concepts for the story. Lengthy projects are always a joy.

i want to write it, but i don't have the necessary experience, nor a good enough plotline. like they ^ said, i'll probably explore some concepts, but i doubt i'll submit a story.

Who's account would I want to watch to be sure to catch both the main sequel and the announcement of who wins this contest for this side-fic?

3027542 Watch both myself and Firesight, as we're the ones who've done the lion's share of the writing for Turnabout Storm for the last few chapters. The main sequel will be started on my account, but we may trade off after each case.

That's right, Ace Attorney: Sonata for Two Worlds is going to be a multiple case epic, in the vein of traditional AA games.

I know this blog post is a year old, but are you still taking submissions for this side story?
