I think I've said elsewhere that I've no great chops as a writer (I think I actually said that I couldn't write a story to save my life). Still, a fella can't help but toy with the notion. This one germinated from an overexposure to HiE fics where Anon gets busy with the ponies, plus a semi-aborted story idea about a trio of old school members of F&SF fandom self-inserts who get drafted to save the day from an invasion of the bottom 2%. (Heh, don't ask; even with making a deliberate effort to avoid the Gary-Stu aspects, it's mouldering in a private GDocs file, and may or may not be salvageable. For the time being, it's mercifully comatose...)
So, an idea, spun off from that notion has been nagging at me: HiE was ponified through misadventure involving Poison Joke. Finds himself stranded behind enemy lines, as it were, with a background pony who has befriended him, but platonically by mutual agreement, Under the stress of the moment, scared to death, they succumb to temptation and do the deed. They are eventually rescued, our human is cured, he and the mare agree to never speak of this again, and he is sent back Earthside.
Six months later, our story opens as he learns that she's knocked up... Working Title: Foal Support
My thoughts were along the lines of Romantic Comedy, with a few d'aww moments, and maybe a little bit of farce. (Picture being served a Summons for Family Court by Equestrian Royal Guardstallions, but that might get a bit harsher than I'd like - they parted as friends...). Problem is, I don't think I could do it justice.
It may or may not have been done before; if so, I haven't seen it. Bu-u-ut... If someone out there wants to take a swing at it, feel free. Just let me know...
