Regarding your deadline thing.
If you feel like you need to then go ahead, but don't force yourself. If you force yourself to write then you will most likely not like it. There is nothing more important than enjoying the things one create and if you force it upon yourself. Well things will go bad.
Take all the time you need and don't rush things. Just do the things that makes you feel good.

Anyways! Don't just drop the story if you can't meet the deadline. It's good to have one, but if it's in editing at the time, don't just up and drop it. I'd love to see a finish to the story. This is all for fun and it shouldn't be stressful. Enjoy yourself some while writing it, otherwise there's no point
Good luck, dude. However, don't just cancel it if you haven't finished it. If you've made absolutely no progress whatsoever by then, then cancel it. But if you've made progress, then keep going.
