To our French friends, we will stand by you!
I can only assume these extremists actually bought into the myth that the French are a cowardly lot who surrender at the first sign of aggression, and not, as they ACTUALLY are, a people with a proud and impressive military history, fierce determination, and a particular love of art and culture.
¡Je suis Charlie!
In the picture, the Mane 6, as battle-hardened veterans should look fierce and determined, even Miss Pinkamena Diane Pie —— ¡a serious Miss Pinkamena Diane Pie strikes fear into the hearts of terrorists! Miss FlutterShy, as the Element of Kindness, is not violent, but can paralyze evil-doers with the Stare.
Actually, je ne suis pas Charlie. Before you take me wrong, I completely support the right of free speech and am against banning stuff for being offensive.
Yet, the so called "art" in question is vulgar, low, dumb and nothing I would ever want to support. I know I have to accept it nonetheless.
I accept that the Charlie Hebdo magazine publishes stuff like God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in an anal threesome. I accept that this is an expression of their right of free speech.
But they also have to accept that I call them a bunch of non good for anything idiots, which is an expression of my own right of free speech.
I believe very I can very well support journalistic freedom in France as well as everywhere else without comparing myself with the scrum they are.

Very true. Charlie Hebdo is incredibly vulgar, and you have every right to say what you like about it.
I felt the 'Je suis Charlie' movement got the tone just right. This was not an occasion to pass comment on the publication, or the integration of immigrants and Islamic culture into French society. Of course the Front national and others tried to exploit it for their own ends, but the overwhelming response was just to show solidarity following a terrible incident.
