Dementia Ravenmane

I'm just a simple horse trying to make my way through the universe. People say I'm bad at writing happy endings.

Let's play a game of guessing, watchers · 3:49pm Jan 8th, 2015

Just how many hours in total do you think the following Source Filmmaker poster took me to make, including every step from model compiling and texturing to scenebuilding and posing:

Go ahead, take a guess in the comments. There is a point to this, and it's about how I feel parts of the art community treats us Source Filmmaker/Garry's Mod users.

I'd say a few hours. At least, that's what I speculate. With what little SFM knowledge I have as is, I don't really feel like I'm qualified to answer this.

2708971 Around 30+ hours if I recall correctly, actually.

All my spare time for about a week, three of the days went to compiling and texturing the pony, as well as figuring out how to give the textures that glowing effect (most of the time went to the latter, actually). Three days went to building the scene, a total of 43 crystal models and 29 rock models, all positioned individually and one at a time. The full scene can be seen here.

One day went to posing and final touches, I even managed to squeeze in a modified skybox after some feedback from a friend of mine.

The reason I made this was mainly due to this DeviantART group. According to their submission rules, anything made in the Source Filmmaker or Garry's Mod where you didn't model every single asset yourself from scratch is "low-effort".

I just found it incredibly ignorant of the hard work and time some of us SFM and Gmod artists put into our works.
