Fusion Crossovers

From the resounding silence my last blog got, I'm going to try to tone it down a notch.
Also, sorry about not posting yesterday there were computer issues. Anyways:

Fusion Fics.
Speaking laconically, A fusion Fic is when you take a story and retell it with characters from another story, like Muppet Treasure Island, or the Family Guy Star Wars specials. I wanna talk about it here because for some reason, it is a huge part of My Little Pony. My Little Avengers, Harmonies Warriors, The Doctor of Oz, Making the Sun Shine, Batmare Begins and The Avatars Call... Its a long list. This is also my favorite version of a crossover, so I read these a lot. So tonight:

Why are fusion fics so big with MLP compared to other franchises?
For one thing, There are six main characters (Seven counting Spike) not to mention the plethora of background ponies with mostly established personalities. As far as casting goes, you got options. Watch this:

PONIFIED GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Starlord: Pinkie Pie OR Vinyl Scratch OR Trixie
Gamora: Rarity OR Twilight OR Octavia
Groot: Fluttershy OR Bloomberg OR A timber wolf OR Carrot Top
Rocket: Rainbow Dash OR Angel Bunny OR Raindrops
Drax: Applejack OR Big Mac OR Snowflake

In maybe ten minutes. Quick and easy, though narrowing it down to write a story would be more difficult. Plus, most of these charactors have a simple cakstory and simple relationships, which means there are a lot of freedom for how they can interact with one another.

Another reason it works is that, you can do almost anything to My Little Pony and make it work. Skyship Pirates? Done. Mane six are serial killers? Sadly, yes. Ponies are invading earth Micheal Bay style? Yep. Literally: EVERY. THING. Ponies have infiltrated all corners of the internet.

This leads to the third reason: the type of fans that MLP attracts. Its something you can do anything with, and therefore a lot of creative people get caught up in it. This results in a bunch of creative people meeting a bunch of other creative people, and the insanity ensues.
