Why do people hate Flash Sentry · 11:55pm Dec 28th, 2014
Ok fellow Bronies I have a question. In preparation for my next story "The Life and Times of Flash Sentry" I would like to ask: What is with the hate for Flash? I know he just showed up in Equestria Girls but why do so many people hate him and don't want FlashLight? This is the first time we actually got romantic interest on in the show's universe. I don't get the BraeLight, or CometLight or the OrionxTwilight shippings, because Twilight didn't have any real interactions with them. With Flash she actually interacted with him. I don't want to ship her with somepony she barely knows. If not for Flash I would ship her with Fluttershy or Discord or just somepony she interacted with. Personally, I hope Flash becomes more part of the show in season 5 and maybe even FlashLight can become canon. But that's just my opinion.
I'd like it to become canon as well. The main problem people feel with it though is it felt shoehorned and on top of that he felt like he had no character of his own other then being the cute guy she repeatedly bumps into. He and her know nothing about each other besides their names and finding the other cute. Him and characters like prince blueblood for me even though they only had a one dimensional purpose for the few seconds they appeared the little we have on them can be done a lot with if thought of hard enough. People have made whole life stories of characters who haven't spoken or do anything of any significance in the show so I can't see why people wouldn't try giving them more layers. Hopefully the show will do this as well.
Its rumored that EG is going to have its own separate series so we'll hopefully get to actually know who Flash is as human is besides the popular cute band guy. Give him some flesh.
As for him as a pony it would be cool to get to know who he is as a pony and how different he is there. Another reason people don't really like the idea of any of the cast having a romantic relationship with any stallions is because they're worried they will fall into become magically more weak, needy, and in general completely opposite of themselves for the sake of the girly relationship stereotype. There are shows that have avoided these clichés while having characters in a relationship though and MLP has done a good job so far turning around some cliché scenarios. Like how in "A Canterlot Wedding" where the princess was saving the prince instead of the other way around.
For pony Flash in your story if its about Flash's life story then it would be interesting to see how music was a big part of his life before he joined the guard. Maybe being a rockstar was his teen life dream before realizing he made a better guard then musician or something like that. Just throwing out ideas. Hope I helped.
@Charzoid I'm sorry I still have trouble understanding what you're saying that I'll explain later when I do my next story. But I'll think about how to incorporate music to his life story but I've already established a cutie mark story which like Twilight's has to do with a baby dragon. Also in my story, First Base isn't his brother because I find that just because that they both have the same color scheme instantly makes them siblings. Maybe his cousin or something. But that's all I'm going to say about my story you'll have to stay tune to learn more.
