The Durendal is the Prototype of Durendal class Supercarrier that was commissioned just near the end of the Klendathu Campaign.
Designed originally as an ordinary carrier type ship the Durendal was assigned for a revolutionary project, the Durendal was equipped with advanced docking ports on four sides of the ship, on these ports 4 new Siege Perilous class frigates, The Heart of Midlothian, Clarions Call, Heart of Gold and Call of Razak were to remain docked and act as extra engines when not in use, this alwos the Durendal to reach speeds and distances that exceed even the fastest SICON ships.

The Durendal’s first trial by fire was a month after the end of the war, a large bug fleet was headed to earth to level the planet in retaliation for the death of their queen, alone and with no ship’s in range to assist the Durendale deployed it’s frigates and fighters and engaged, in the ensuing fray the Durendal destroyed 6 ships while it’s frigates took out 15 all together, the result of the battle was total victory for SICON, though the Durendales commanding officer was killed at the very beginning of the battle and Captain was given to his Commander, Florence White.

After The massive Arachnid attack on Tesca the Durendal was dispatched beyond Human space to an uncharted Soler system containing two Terra class planets sharing the same planetary rotation, one of the two had yet unidentified energy readings and scattered radio signals.

Message fragments indicate that Several missing M.I squads from Tesca including Zebra squad may be present on the planet.
