    Mother of God, pt. II

This post isn't just about le art, but first things first:

You guys remember how Wisp's cutie mark was kind of technically definitely stolen? Well, no more. Finally, at long last, it has happened:

    Kinda big news (rewriting)

So last night I spent a good several hours talking with a couple friends about Fireflank. At first it was about a few important things I might change about the story at large (and most particularly my concerns that I may allow Wisp to come off as "too" talented magically), but as things progressed and more input was given, I became convinced that it would indeed be in my best interests to go over

    I'm horrible

So I was working on Fireflank. I really was. But then Fallout: Eclipse sucked me in until I was done with its first chapter and I'm terrible.

The Tiniest Update - Fireflank Time

Just letting it be known that I'm now focusing again on Fireflank, having decided it best to work on the story that's actually at a fully writable stage. Doing at least a little bit every day.

Update Time · 12:07am Oct 28th, 2014

So it's been a little while, once again. Just a few weeks, I suppose, but that feels like a lot.

So I've been playing lots of Destiny, still. Having one of my long stretches of just gaming before doing anymore writing. It had to happen sometime, I guess. Lol. Still loving the game... Just don't get me started on how I don't really have the time for Wildstar right now.

Anyway, I'm making this post to let you guys know that, as of today, I'm writing Fireflank again. It's not much, yet—just a few paragraphs of new chapter, and a couple pages of editing/prettifying of the previous, but I have resumed work on things once again. Hooray. The bits of ponying I've been doing lately (showertime music, starting my first post-season 4 pony rewatch) have been motivating me more and more to get back to work, to take time for pony things (mainly writing) once again. I may still be largely sucked into Destiny and such, but this is the start of my latest return.

You may be wondering about the Fallout pony thing. I really do want to work more on it, but I've decided I'm not going to push a half-baked thing; I'm going to try and keep it on the backburner, allowing it and the ideas behind it to develop until such a time that it's actually ready to be a thing. I can still actually write some of it, of course, but it's hard to do that when I hardly know anything concrete about what I'm doing. Its time will come.

That said, I'm very fond of my Fireflank characters. As ever, I'll say that ideally, the story in general will be revised or maybe even, to some extent, reimagined in the future, but that requires I finish it first. What I really most need to do is finish this story, even if that means time away from putting a full focus on the Fallout stuff. As I've pointed out before, the only way to bring anything I write closer to my ideal for it is to just do it and gain experience that way.

And blah blah blah. It may help a little that Tommy Oliver made a video specifically about an artist or writer's struggle for perfection and how holding oneself up to such a standard only brings you down and holds you back; I may not be much of a writer, and I may have already accepted this fact before, but still, everything he said spoke to me.

So I continue onwards with my work on the things. I hope you guys enjoy what I come up with, and probably won't make another post until I upload the new chapter.

Probably.
