Happy Thanksgiving · 2:10pm Oct 13th, 2014
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians. It's nice to see most of my family over the weekend, and it's probably my favourite holiday for that reason--I get to see my family and enjoy a good meal, yet it's not really a long or formal thing.
On a side note: I feel a little annoyed at neglecting my writing over the weekend, and it's a shame that I have to work today, but it's a short shift and I get holiday pay. Once that's done, I'm gonna get right back onto AHoC, as there's a scene I'm working on that I must utterly destroy and rework, for it has been sitting there, feeling incomplete and wrong. Leaving it like that has been nothing short of irritating. (Although it has been good motivation for me to ponder exactly what I want out of the scene and why it feels so wrong as it is.)
Anyway, I'm off to work.

Work?
Im curious, what dose thanksgiving celebrate?
2530447
A sacrificial offering of turkeys to the god of the burned house.
At least that's what I gathered, being from Europe and all.
2530447 Thanksgiving was formed to celebrate finishing off the harvest season, much like the USA Thanksgiving. Ours is a month earlier because our harvest season generally finishes a month earlier. We also tend to take a bit of time to think about the things in our life that we are thankful for. In my case: having met so many great people through this fandom, yourself included; having a story that I can pour my heart into; having universal healthcare; getting the opportunity to be part of a panel at BronyCon; having a job where the people I work with are awesome. All those sorts of thing. It's generally just a time for celebration.
2530506 Well, my parents are vegetarian, and my sister is vegan, so we had a totally vegan thanksgiving dinner on the weekend, which was quite delicious. Tofu-turkey, baked sliced yam, cranberry sauce, a neat stuffing bread and some assorted pureed vegetables. So no actual turkeys this year.
2530517 Aha, I see
2530566 Sounds delicious. It seems you had a nice time with your family, and that's the only thing that matters, right?
So don't be annoyed about your writing, we'll be here, waiting patiently.
I always forget that those freaky Americans have Thanksgiving at a different time than Canadians.
