If you could live anywhere in the US... · 12:48am Oct 8th, 2014
I'm probably going to be leaving my old life behind and starting anew. I just don't know where to go. I'd like to remain in the states. Immigration is a very long and expensive process. I'm also excluding places with a very high cost of living (Hawaii, California, Alaska), and I currently live in Florida, so that's out, too.
Other than that, where would you go? Would you even go anywhere? Do you like it where you live? Nice weather?
I myself live in Maine. Maine can be relatively inexpensive, but unless you live in Bangor or Portland, it is most likely you're gonna find yourself in a very rural area.
Also to consider about Maine is the Winters. EXTREME difference in the two states. (I used to live in Pensacola, so I know how the two states differ)
I hope to be moving to the Dallas, Texas area within a year. I am hoping to get away from the Maine winters.
I've lived in California since I was about 4 years old, and living anywhere else in the states is something I can hardly imagine. That being said, It'd be nice to live somewhere that gets regular snowfall. I love snow.
If I had to move to the states I'd live in Vermont.
2515508 Yeah, that's too far north. I hate cold and snow. I've experienced two Canadian winters, so I think I can imagine what Maine is like.
2515674 Isn't the cost of living outrageous, though? Not to mention the housing market...

Yeah, the housing market is patently absurd. I live in an area where owning even a small one-story house is a huge financial drain.
But thanks to the fact that my mother knows EVERYONE in town, I was able to find an apartment that only costs $635 a month, utilities included. Granted, the place is one room plus a bathroom and no kitchen, but I like it. I live a pretty modest life.
2516554 Lol, yeah, I'm looking to buy a house, so fuck that.
Try WV. Bad winters but other than that, nice place!
