I've been stuck on The Atlantis Scenario's first chapter for somewhere around two years now. I've been stalled on Of Responsibility's second one for about a year and a half.
...so why the hell was I able to power through this equivalent-length piece in just two days?
Ugh, maybe I should go back and re-hype-train myself with A Canterlot Wedding and The Crystal Empire, because I don't know what else it could have been. Sure, I listened to one song (The song that gave me the story's title, in fact) on repeat while writing this, but I've been doing the same thing (with different songs, obviously) with my other stories and meeting rather more limited success. Whatever; I'm supposed to talk about the story, not complain about it, here. Spoilers Follow!
Let's see... A lot of this, from Adagio secretly actually liking Aria and Sonata, to Sunset and Twi being able to use more regular magic, comes from a combination of headcanons based off the preview clips for Rainbow Rocks, and headcanons for the EQG universe in general for the TAS Continuity's version of events. (assuming I ever get that far)
Inspiration for the story came from hyping over Rainbow Rocks while listening to the album that the titular song comes from on repeat during a very long car trip... I had some dairy on that trip, too, which likely didn't help matters at all, given dairy has a pretty nasty effect on my brain for some reason. So anyway, this very edgy and 'mature' alternative rock album has somehow become synonymous in my mind with this very lighthearted and innocent children's movie, and this story was the unholy brain-spawn of that. Could I continue it? Certainly, I imagine there's more to be done with this premise, as Trixie and Adagio's flawed relationship develops. Should I continue it? I don't see why not. But will I continue it? As always, the presence of two massive projects which I've barely made any headway on and an assortment of smaller projects -most of which have yet to see the light of day- alongside homework and a truly massive original project is a huge deterring factor, but at the same time I feel like there's too much potential here to give up so easily.
In short, maybe.
In the meantime, though, it'll be marked as complete, and I hope you enjoyed my twisted little take on the Dazzlings.

Temptation waits was actually rather enjoyable.
It jarred me a little with how the earlier moments with Trixie blended together as she snuck around, but I enjoyed it.
And finally, a story where somebody does EQG girls actually using magic. I need more of that.
Anyways, it's an enjoyable one-shot, and a enjoyable title.
