it has come to my attention that a good 20% (teehee) of the fics posted these days are straight up comedies. this is nice. this is good. excellent job, fanbase. *claps* well played.

While the odd trollfic is nice ('Ponies in panties' being the last one in recent memory that was by any means amusing to me personally), I find that any more than one in a blue moon is annoying.

well, there are different kinds. I remember laughing almost constantly at the Spiders one, can't recall the title atm. And then then theres the, "suppose I killed them all" vein of trollfics.....
. I don't know if the "Princess Celestia Hates Tea" is considered a trollfic or not, or rather just a comedy, but I thought that was hysterical. 
I mostly dislike the "human in Equestria" types of fics, they're all basically the same...and I don't really enjoy them at all. Most just scream "self-insert" to me, and it's kind of awkward.
176062 "Spiderses" I believe it was, and it was less of a troll fic and more of a waste of time like "Love flows by the river" or whatever (essentially a 6-year-old's attempt at being cool with mature elements added). The 'Ponies in panties' was hysterical to me because its poking fun at the clopfics that mostly go along the lines of "AND THEN THEY ALL FUCKED, THE END", where in a summarized version of it, Trixie gives everypony in ponyville their own customized pair of panties and they start to go crazy for some reason...until Rainbow Dash steals them all and 'saves the day'. It was fun while it lasted, but a repeat event would be at best boorish, at worst, embarrassing.
(Also; pitch black humor is awesome, I loved that one 'Suppose I killed them all' to death, but I don't find it was necessarily a 'trollfic'. More or less an extremely well done one-shot.)
I have to respectfully disagree with you on 'all' HiE's being the same damn self-insert thing...while most of them are (gary stu-panty droppin', tail raising swag master), a few exist where its actually rather fun. Like 'Rorschach in Equestria'...oh the sweet sound of innocence being lost en mass...

hmmm, the differences between trollfics and comedies are many, yet I seem to have lumped them together. whoopsie.
while it does sound...interesting, I try to stay away from that part of the internet, so reading a parody of said part of the internet doesn't appeal to me.
if you'll recall, I did say "most", I try to stay away from absolutes, it wouldn't be fair, as you just mentioned, some HiEs are very well done...(I'm actually editing one for a good friend as we speak, it's a nice unique take)

it warms my heart to hear that. I love you guys, I really do, and I'm doing my best to fix the fic. I realized it was heading into mary-sue territory and I had to avoid that to make it more realistic. but that's the danger when writing OC's.

What the hell happened to that one story you had up with the pony/dragon hybrid!? That was my favorite story on the entire site and its still in my top 10 ever list right next to 'The end of ponies' and 'The white box' and 'Borderline'.

wow guys, thank you is all I can say. it's a huge honor to have my fic right up there in your favorites. really. it's nice to be appreciated, frankly.
and that is why I took it down, yes. I could see all the flaws, and when it did so well and so many people were reading it, I realized I couldn't live with it if I let it stay there as it was. I'm trying to improve, though...
I hope you're kidding with this blog post. Troll fictions are kind of the problem with this site. They are polluting it to the point where nothing else can get featured. The admins are even considering making it so that troll fictions can not get featured anymore.

as I said in a different reply, I kind of just lumped them together with the comedies...which shouldn't have been done, in retrospect.
It was a mistake to reverse them, with trollfics as a genre, rather than a subgenre of comedy.
