    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

Kaij Profile: Gyaos Flock · 2:20am Sep 3rd, 2014

Link

Title: The Shadow of Atlantis
Alias: Gyaos, Super Gyaos
Stats:
Species: Artificial hybrid resembling a mix of pterosaur and bat
Coloration: crimson red with some brown, blood red eyes
Gender: Female
Height: 3; 30-60 meters (Normal; Super)
Weight: 0.25; 2,000-14,000 tons (Normal; Super )
Length: 4; 40-85 meters (Normal; Super ),
Wingspan: 8; 80-175 meters (Normal; Super )
Morality: All but one stage of the Gyaos flocks are only sub-sentient at absolute best when thinking calculatingly, and completely wild, rampaging animals when not. The flock owes no allegiance other than the prospect of a potential food source. This typically makes them chaotic and near uncontrollable. If it's food and they can kill it, they will. They'll even turn on the weakest of their flock mates if they are injured beyond healing
Traits: Flight at Mach 0.5, sharp teeth and talons, arrowhead pointed skull, echolocation, night vision, hurricane force winds when in groups, asexual reproduction

Powers:

Dark Haze - Their name didn't come from the Atlantean word for 'Shadow' for nothing. Gyaos of all forms are able to cause a cold, black fog to emerge in their immediate area. This is much more effective when in a flock, with dark clouds being created when they all work together. This haze blocks out sun or moon light and can cause a virtual black out over a moderate area. This is mostly done to diminish the vision of their prey as well as give the gyaos a region their night vision works well in even during the day time

Sonic Cutter - By channeling energy into a vibrating portion of their throat responsible for their echolocation into hyper condensed rays, each gyaos can fire out a very long ranged beam of yellow energy and sound. This beam can easily slice through solid rock with the normal form and a Super can cleave a building in half. Only some hyper dense metals or the toughest kaiju hides can resist the slicing, but may still be cut

Weakness: - Bright lights can easily hurt their eyes or even temporarily blind them. The flock also frequently gets driven into a piranha-like feeding frenzy when in battle, often turning on its own injured members. The sonic cutter also takes time to charge and can only be fired for a few seconds at a time. Super Gyaos may be near the size of most larger kaiju, but they are not nearly as durable. Gyaos also have an uncontrollable hunger, which is what drives the frenzy

Hyper Gyaos a.k.a Irys
True Form
"How well can you fight in the dark?"

Title: The Pale Scream
Alias: The Albino Gyaos, Alpha Gyaos
Stats:
Species: Artificial hybrid resembling a mix of pterosaur and bat, albino
Coloration: Moon white with light purple wing membranes, rose pink eyes
Gender: Female
Height: 90 meters
Weight: 27,000 tons
Length: 95 meters
Wingspan: 200 meters
Morality: The Albino leader is the only member of her species to be confirmed to be fully sentient. This alongside with her far greater strength is attributed to the reason she became the alpha member of the unruly flock. While she bears no particular love for her flight, several scars on her crest and lower legs having been from fights with her company; she is the one leading the flock most of the time. Certainly not a nice fellow, she is a master at using her brain as much as her power to try and come out top in her fights. Even if she can't overpower a foe herself, Hyper Gyaos can frequently be crafty enough to use other resources to try and achieve her objective
Traits: Flight at Mach 2, sharp talons and fangs, arrowhead shaped, sharp head crest, hurricane force winds from wing, normal kaiju durability; seems immune to typical vulnerabilities of albinism

Powers:

Dark Haze - See above

Hyper Cutter - A more powerful version of the Sonic Cutter, Hyper Gyaos' beam has several differences. The charge time tends to be shorter and can be fired more continuously like other kaiju's breath weapons. The slicing potential is much stronger and has much more energy behind it, similar to a plasma ray. Uniquely, the albino Hyper Gyaos' beam is purple colored.

Sonic Deflection - By spreading her wings and vibrating sound energy across her wing membrane, Hyper Gyaos can create a short lived shield in front of or behind her. This shield can't block physical based blows well, but can cause dizziness and nausea to nearby enemies as well as severely dampens if not outright canceling out most energy based attacks

Weakness: - While she is much more tolerant of them than the rest of her kind, very bright lights can still hurt her eyes. While she is conscious, the same unbearable hunger can strike her just as bad as it does the rest of her kind and can drive her into a irrational frenzy if she's starving enough. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to be able to asexually reproduce to create more of her subspecies and might be sterile

Bio:

The Gyaos flocks are a prime example of disastrous consequences of good intentions. One of the earlier creations of the First Civilization, more specifically the island city-state of Atlantis; Gyaos were made with the sole intention of being near unrelenting killing machines that would be deadly both in close quarters and at range. Choosing to make more than one of their specimen, rather than a varied group; it was chosen to encourage reproduction to grow the species into formidable flocks. This was done to save costs and time in making replacements manually, and to get the flock’s ranks high quickly. Because they also designed the species to be composed entirely of fertile, self replicating and adapting females; this meant they only had to make one and let nature run from there no matter what climate they put their creation in. Bats and pterosaurs were chosen as the template species to make the creation highly mobile in combat as well as being able to travel long distance with the least amount of resistance. Within a few weeks, the first gyaos successfully hatched and grew into adulthood; laying a large clutch of eggs of her own. Soon it seemed, the Atlantian super weapon meant to “Kill and Consume” the evils that threatened the world would bring safety to the planet and glory to Atlantis.

Unfortunately, what proved to be her creators undoing was their own rushed pace. So quick were the Atlanteans to make their would-be guardian that they neglected to notice how many corners they had cut on the way to the first gyaos’ birth and numerous faults were present. While most kaiju can easily live thousands of years in active lifestyle, even longer if hibernating; the gyaos at best projected to only live for a decade or so. They were much less durable than other guardian beasts, but the Atlantians were adamant their superior numbers made them more than strong enough. What they didn’t count on was the strength in numbers aspect, along with the aforementioned “Kill and Consume” part, applying to every life form they came across when the Gyaos flock stormed their capital. In their haste to make the ultimate predator, they created a ravenous species who’s hunger could not be sated; and saw everything as food. Atlantis was razed to the ground overnight.

It was only through the early deployment of another guardian beast, Amaterasu’s creation Raiga, was the disaster averted from growing bigger. After swimming over to the burning city, Raiga electrocuted the small flock with the help of a passing mass thunderstorm while they were busy feasting in the city’s remains; and the terror was put to rest. What that exhausted Raiga didn’t count on as she sadly departed the destroyed and sinking landmass, was that one dying gyaos had managed to fly to the mainland and lay one dormant egg before dying. Thousands of years passed before the egg hatched in the early 2000s.

Though flocks quickly formed, Terra’s native kaiju and rapidly reawakening Guardian Beasts kept their numbers in check. In what one could call an irony of nature, the very traits that lead many gyaos to their deaths, over abundant boldness, lack of durability, and low intelligence; slowly began to be bred out of the flocks’ ranks. This came to an apex when one single, large white egg was laid. Upon hatching, the new gyaos was immediately different from the rest. Appearing to be albino, the individual quickly grew larger and stronger than even the largest ‘Super’ Gyaos in the flocks. She had far greater durability, shrugging off anti-air missiles that would burst a Super asunder; and had strength and abilities far exceeding any before her. All and all, she was her species’ design taken to near perfection; the Atlantian design put to reality. Still cursed with an unending hunger, ‘Hyper Gyaos’ quickly became the leader of the flocks. Her clashes with Gamera are as countless as the winged numbers of her legion.

Nice profiles and sorry about the PMing you all the time with my thoughts on this stuff.

These guys are Gamera enemies right?

2423646 yes in fact here is the full 1995 or 99 version of the movie

Oh yeah, I heard about these guys in the Godzilla vs. Gamera episode of DEATH BATTLE. Personally, they kinda remind me of the Stymphalian Birds of Classical Mythology. Y'know, the ones that shot metallic feathers out of their wings like arrows that Hercules killed for one of his 12 Labors?

Man, I REALLY need to actually watch some Gamera flicks later on.

2423676 I knew it! Also hanks for the film.

Upon further reflection, the Gyaos share more in common with a different winged mythological creature: the Perytons.

For those not familiar with these beasts, Perytons are described as being half stag and half bird with blueish-green feathers and fur with a carnivorous appetite. Some legends say they were created from the restless spirits of the dead Atlanteans and this claim was somewhat supported by the fact that these beasts had human-shaped shadows; however, a Peryton's shadow would change to match their true form after said Peryton killed and ate at least one human (hence why the beasts were so dangerous). Some legends also claim that a flock of Perytons attacked the city of Rome shortly before the fall of the Roman Empire.

It is a pity that his feud with Gamera was cut short, I feel that in this story he could give more of himself as in the heisei trilogy.
