New Story: Pony Playdate

After sitting within the confines of my mind for nearly five months, I have finally pushed out the first chapter of a new story I've entitled "Pony Playdate." It is a random/comedy/crossover (which I've also taken the liberty of noting with an AU tag; you'll see why in a moment) simply about a...well, here:

A new wave of astounding technology has hit Equestria in past years, the most notable of them being the inventions of personal computers and the Internet. Of course, this new technology isn’t going to waste. Along with the Internet craze birthed a new kind of hobby: online gaming. Several hundreds—perhaps even thousands—of games have arrived because of this new technology, evolving it from the simple 8-bit games that had filled the arcades across the land.

Six superb mares have drunken the Kool-Aid of this gaming cult: a rainbow-maned destroyer, a flamboyantly pink hard-partier, a millennia-old dream weaver of a princess, a ditzy muffin muncher, a candy-loving lyrist, and a gracious cellist with the mark of a treble clef. Together, they make a motley gang of gamers, some newer than others, that will at times die at the hooves of another while at others standing tall with one another.

These are their let’s-plays…dun-dun.

The idea for this fanfic came when I was watching one of Achievement Hunters' videos (specifically "Let's Play Surgeon Simulator") and originally only centered around Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie as a one-shot. However, ideas for other games and other gamers began to fall into place (especially upon the discovery of the Gamer Luna fanon), ultimately transforming it into this. For the most part, I will be adhering to the group presented in the piloting chapter (plus Roseluck and an eighth member down the road); but a pony here and there may occasionally become a guest. I have roughly forty chapters planned, stretched across over a score of different games, so this is gonna be a stinker. I don't have a posting plan for it, for I'm writing two others and plotting several more.

And before someone asks and I'll have to clarify anyways, I am not basing this on Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth, or any other Youtube video gaming personality; I am not type-casting; I just took seven extraordinary mares and placed a controller in their hooves. Sure, some plots of the chapters are based on AH and others (the first chapter, for example), and I will even make rough allusions to them; but many of the things the girls do and say are of their own persona: Derpy burns and breaks things; Pinkie continues her disregard for physics, even the already-bent physics of video games; Dash rage-quits—a lot—; and Luna is awesome. If I were to type-cast them as Achievement Hunter, the gang would be made up of two Gavins, a Michael, Michael and Ray's love child, a female, unmad version of Ryan, a sober Geoff that plays a lyre, and Lindsay with Ray's love of roses; and with that I've made my point. I could go on, but I feel that I'm beginning to ramble.

So have a read, and I shall await for some feedback.

Also, the reason why this blog is about three days after the posting of the story is because I only had enough time to just that.
