Friendship is Card Games: Stare Master · 12:41pm Aug 24th, 2014

Also known as "Fluttershy is Awesome 2: Fluttershy is a Freaking Badass." When Fluttershy Stares into the abyss, the abyss apologizes.

This episode reinforces my belief that the feline behavioral axis has endpoints at Evil and Stupid. And Opalescence isn't stupid.

Ponies have the concept of angels. I have actually done something with this, but I think it's a matter for another blog. They also have the concept of faeries, but we've already seen those. (And I still don't trust them. "Pollen." I suppose that's what they're calling the dreams of the innocent these days…)

It's kind of tragic; if Apple Bloom had been allowed to reconstruct that table on her own, she probably would've done it quite well.

While looking up the technical term for the fear of the dark, I was amused to see one possibility is "scotophobia." Add another o and there's a story in there somewhere. :scootangel:

Of course the Crusaders didn't get cutie marks in arguing. An argument is more than just contradiction.
(No it isn't.)
Shush, you. I haven't even paid for a session. Besides, it's time for cards:

Bucky needs a card. I have no idea what it would be, but I suspect that a series of Chase based cards would be hilarious.

Exile target artifact card from a graveyard. Ruinous Restoration deals damage equal to that card's converted mana cost to its controller.

Controller should be owner here.

Is Cascading Calamity supposed to start at CMC 0 and go to 1, 2, 3, and so on until there's no longer a choice? I don't think the spell as written does that. I think that concept would be hard to write up.

And when creating cards here, CMC should be written :scootangel::applecry::unsuresweetie:.

Ruinous Restoration is fixed. And yeah, Cascading Calamity is ambitious to the point of near impossibility. Not really sure how to better phrase it. :applejackunsure:

2396697
Dude, don't even get me started. I've already come up with color assignments for the entire herd and a good half-dozen cards since I read your comment. Bucky alone could fuel about that many different interpretations of him. Here's one:

Bucky, Shadows' Bane 2WUB
Legendary Creature — Unicorn Wizard
Prevent all damage Bucky, Shadows' Bane would deal to other Pony, Pegasus, and Unicorn creatures.
1B: Bucky deals 1 damage to each creature and each player.
Hoofcraft — Bucky has hexproof as long as you control three or more Ponies, Pegasi, and/or Unicorns.

I don't know enough about the cards or the rules to understand. :ajbemused:

But it sounds awesome. :rainbowwild:

2396873
Basically, this version of Bucky has "kill everything" magic that explicitly excludes other ponies... but not himself. Also, if there are enough ponies standing with him, your opponent's nasty spells won't work on him, thanks to the Power of Love and Friendship.

**eagerly awaits other entries, most notably Loch Skimmer and or Ripple**

Shouldn't Elizabeak be "Summon Chicken"? Or are we ignoring the Un- sets?

2396869 For Ruinous Calamity, try:

Destroy a permanent with converted mana cost 0. Put a charge counter on Ruinous Calamity.

Destroy a permanent with converted mana cost equal to the number of charge counters on Ruinous Calamity. If you do, put a charge counter on Ruinous Calamity and repeat this process.

If a card like this would see print, it would probably start at CMC 1, since Wizards of the Coast doesn't like land destruction anymore.

2396982
Given how Falcons were folded into the general Bird type, it seems safe to assume that Chickens would as well. Clamfolk, of course, would remain a distinct creature type.

2397092
:pinkiegasp: That's brilliant! I'd completely forgotten about Lightning Storm! Still, I'm leaving in the land-kill functionality. There's no guarantee of there being a CMC 1 permanent on the battlefield. At least this way the card can act as a harder-to-cast Craterize. Plus, remember that it can also hit Moxen, tokens, and other such annoyances.

2397108 I'm still upset Noggles got their own creature type, instead of being donkeys (for tribal synergies with Unhinged's donkeyfolk).

Since you're not using charge counters with the new Cascading Calamity, the spell needs a better counter name. How about "Cutie Mark Crusader counter"? :pinkiehappy:

2U for a counter that can only occasionally fire? Just how badly have they nerfed counterspell effects since the good ol' days of 3rd Ed UU "Counterspell"? :rainbowwild:

/has barely played since the 1990s

2397480
Well, nowadays, they decided to tack an extra mana on the end of Counterspell. There's been an effort to make creatures worth playing, which sometimes means the removal has to be a little worse.

Still, you may be right about Overreach. It's intended as a sort of bizarro Dispersal Shield. On the other hand, it does automatically stop virtually any spell as long as the caster only has lands out, and that perpetuates a state of not-fun...

Yeah, this sort of thing can be surprisingly tricky.

Sweetie Belle said "oops," and all experienced wizards fled.

2401092
The OC protagonist of kudzuhaiku's The Chase. Yes, that word count is accurate. The man is a freaking machine.

(And I still don't trust them. "Pollen." I suppose that's what they're calling the dreams of the innocent these days…)

I now cannot unthink this.

Fortissimo and Booming War Cry both seems quite strong. And Fortissimo really makes we want to play a song deck.
