Ah, here's the thing, so long as it's not my own work I can see the imperfections clearly.
If it's someone else's work then I need to read through it fully, sound it out in my head to understand it. That way I can catch the errors more.
If it's my work though, that's essentially reading something twice. I don't really like that so I subconsciously skim and I miss some pretty common errors. Hell, even when writing I leave things that are obviously wrong but I just ignore because I can't see it.
