New story idea and a request · 10:55pm Aug 4th, 2014

Hello to any of my readers that care to read this. I thank you for taking the time to do so.

First off, I just want to announce that I will be putting Heavy Rain on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Time will tell if I eventually decide to return to it down the road, but honestly, at the moment, I'm not too optimistic about continuing it in any regular writing capacity. Most of that uncertainty stems from the fact that I pretty much rushed into writing the story without taking any time beforehand to come up with any sort of outline on the story, who its characters were going to be besides of course Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, and Princess Luna, how I would develop those theoretical characters along with the three I named, where I wanted the plot to go beyond some half-baked ideas floating around in my head, along with many other crucial story points that I should have thought out beforehand. So yeah, I screwed up big time in that regard. Sorry to any readers who feel disheartened by this, but fear not, for my second announcement is much more hopeful.

That being, I have a new exciting story idea in the works at the moment which I am currently in the process of creating an outline for. I have learned from my mistakes in writing Heavy Rain, and I am not going to make the same mistake with this story that I have in mind. I plan to have as many elements of this story figured and planned out as possible before I begin writing it: who the characters are, main and side, their personalities, the plot direction, conflicts, character development, world-building and lore elements, all that good stuff.

So what is this idea, you ask? Basically, it's an epic adventure story involving everyone's favorite purple and green firebreather, Spike. The story takes place a good twenty years down the road from the current time in the show. Spike has grown into a tall and rather lanky drake, and, as is the nature of dragons who reach their drakehood age, he is stricken with a sudden and unexplainable sense of wanderlust that he cannot ignore, and so, after a tearful farewell to his adopted mother and the five mares he counted as his closest friends, he leaves the small, rustic town he had called home for his entire life, on an adventure that will take him around Equestria and across its borders into foreign lands. Along the way, he will make many new friends, some of which will join him in his journey, do battle with deadly foes both big and small, undertake exciting and oftentimes perilous quests, see exotic and breathtaking sights, and become a legend.

I'm definitely looking forward to writing this story as soon as I get the details worked out and sharing my vision for Spike's adventure with all those who care to read it. I've never looked forward to writing a story so much as this one. I've got a really good feeling that this is going to be something special. But, it's also going to be a major undertaking. So many things need to be worked out, as I said, before I can be confident enough to begin writing on it.

And so, that brings me to the request part of this post. I am looking for someone who would be willing to work with me on this story of mine, someone to help me in working out the details and intricacies of the story. For a story like this, it'll be a very difficult prospect to write alone, that I am certain of. I need someone who I can bounce my ideas off of and who can also help contribute their own story ideas to me and, if it appeals to them, giving the chapters a read-through before I post them, to make sure they're of the best quality they can be.

I am looking for someone who has experience in story-writing, the more the better, preferably those with experience writing adventure fics. Although it's not strictly necessary; I just feel it would help facilitate better idea sharing with a writer who has experience in adventure stories.

So, I would humbly request that anyone who reads this and is interested in helping me tell my story, or knows someone who would be, please contact me either through PM or through the comments section on this blog post. I thank you again for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you when I eventually publish my story on this site. And to those who want to help me in telling my story, I look forward to hearing from you.
