Spoiler Alert: Dr. Strange The Sorcerer Supreme, Part 3 · 12:44pm Aug 1st, 2014

:twilightsheepish:: The Ancient One shows Stephen the Nexus to All Realities, which is usually a part of Man-Thing's mythos, but whatever. He tells Stephen that he has been defending the Nexus from Dormammu, an evil wizard-demon-thing, for hundreds of years. I have to say, given that the Nexus is the one shared point between all dimensions and timelines in the entire Marvel multiverse, I'd think he has more to worry about than just Dormammu. In fact, I'd think there'd be multiple Dormammus fighting each other for control of it.
Stephen explains that he'd seen Dormammu before, when he touched the forehead of the girl in the coma from his hospital, and the Ancient One realizes that Dormammu is using the childrens' subconsciouses to build an alternate gate to the Nexus. Mordo instantly suggests killing the children.
:flutterrage:: WHAT!? THAT BIG MEANIE!! HE WON'T LAY A FINGER ON THOSE CHILDREN WHILE I'M AROUND!!! I DON'T LET ANYONE HURT CHILDREN, YOU HEAR!?! NOBODY!!!!
:rainbowderp:: Whoa, Fluttershy! Calm down!
:fluttercry:: I just...I...it's just so....
:ajbemused:: She does have a point. Why the heck did the Ancient One an' Wong keep this guy around so long, anyway? Strange then heads ta the hospital ta free each'a the kids' minds from Dormammu's Dark Dimension. Ah love alliteration. Howe'er, Mordo teams up wit' Dormammu, knocks out Strange, an' kidnaps the children ta create the portal. Why? 'Cause'n he didn't have a shot at bein' Sorcerer Supreme no more. How petty; why was this film tryin' ta convince us he was e'er a good guy? E'en Wong don't look surprised. Ah think it worked better in the comics, where e'eryone suspected Mordo ta be evil from the start.
:pinkiehappy:: Meanwhile, the Ancient One and a few sorcerers we didn't mention because they weren't important face off against Dormammu's last creature. Wow, this Dormammu's a lot less impressive than the usual one if you guys managed to wipe out every minion he had in his entire dimension. So this is the last one, huh? Must be pretty impressive.
.........
It's a swarm of flying mouths.

:pinkiegasp:: I-I'm sorry! *snort* I do this e-every review, d-don't I? I-I know it's an unavoidable swarm that can strip you of your flesh in seconds, *gasp* b-but it just looks so RIDICULOUS!
:facehoof:: Oy. Anyway, the flying mouths *snicker* kill all of the sorcerers except the Ancient One. Having defeated the swarm, he is then cut down by Mordo. Once again, I miss Mordo's subtlety from the comics. In those, he killed the Ancient One with poison, and magically stopped Strange from warning anyone. Here, all skullduggery is renounced in favor of a sword.
:pinkiehappy:: *giggle* Who's says Skullduggery?
:twilightangry2:: Lots of people; now calm down, Pinkie! Wong and Stephen discover the Ancient One just about to die...and he is remarkably intact, considering he was killed by a sword slash. The Ancient One gives Stephen his necklace, the Eye of Agamatto, indicating his role as the new Sorcerer Supreme. Stephen says he doesn't want the role, and Wong replies that's why he gets the role.
....or maybe it's because you're the only white guy here. White guys in fiction tend to kick flank when they're in foreign cultures. I wonder why that is?

:rainbowderp:: Wong then confronts Mordo. Alright, this should be awesome!
....and they both pulled out blade weapons instead of powerful magic.
....and Wong got his flank kicked.
....#@$%!
:duck:: Strange takes over and beats Mordo with little effort. Why? Because he uses magic other than conjuring weapons, that's how. However, he's too late to stop Dormammu from appearing, and I have to say, he doesn't look terribly original. A black, flaming skeleton with giant horns? If he had wings, he'd be indistinguishable from a Balrog. Honestly, I'd prefer the robed, flaming man of the comics, myself.
:rainbowdetermined2:: Strange then confronts Dormammu. The fight's packed into the last ten minutes, so it's not as climatic as I'd like, and I'm not sure the Eye of Agamatto would work the way it does here, but there's not a single melee weapon. It's all hard-core magic in this fight, and it was about time!
:applejackunsure:: Wong, howe'er, warns that e'en though Dormammu's gone, there're still plenty'a his monsters left in the city. What monsters? Ya said the flying mouths were the last ones! Strange has a last-minute conversation wit' his ex-'cause she's still in this movie-'fore he and Wong enter the Santorum, ready to keep on defendin' the universe.
:twilightsheepish:: In conclusion, there are some major logistical errors, the villains are a bit disappointing, and the action is severely lacking. Still, if you're looking for an introduction to Dr. Strange, you can definitely do worse.

:ajsmug:: Alright; now that's o'er an' done with, wadda ya girls want fer supper?

:pinkiegasp:: Ohmigosh, it's one of my evil exes! Gotta go!
:twilightoops:: Wait, what? Ugh, never mind, girls, I got this.

:fluttershyouch:: Um, sh-should we tell her what happens i-if she beats him?
:duck:: Hmm. Let's let her deal with the Demon Hipster Chicks first. Just to be safe.

....it's a swarm of flying mouths.

Wonder where I heard that before....

Wonder how much of this is useable for our projects

2334407 ....huh. That exists.
Anyway, not too much, I'd imagine. Besides the fact that there are some major differences between your Dr. Strange and this, I imagine it will be more pertinent to see what the live-action movie Marvel is planning will do. If we use anything from this, I would suggest the dead sister subplot.
That reminds me, though. There's a comic I've been planning to check out that does an updated version of Strange's origin. It might have some good ideas; I'll try to get it before the summer's over.

I own this movie it is a good movie and I can't wait to see the upcoming live action Doctor Strange movie that comes out 2016.

2335095 Yeah, I'm waiting for that with crossed fingers.

2335173 But they have a director for the movie and they gave it a release date so it's happening if anyone likes it or not.

2335184 Crossed fingers as in hoping that it'll be good.
Besides, a director and a release date do not make a film a necessity. This would not be the first film that made it that far without getting made.

2335253 But Marvel always gets their movies out and if you want to talk about movies that are more than likely going to be bad let's talk about the upcoming Fantastic four movie.

2335263 Not always, and certainly not always on time. Ant-Man has already taken eight years to develop, and I still haven't seen a trace of the Sub-Mariner film they were planning at the time. Not to mention the various directors announced for films such as Werewolf by Night, Deathlok, Shang-Chi, Taskmaster, the Runaways, and the like.
Besides, I'm not saying Dr. Strange is going to be bad; just that we're at the stage where I can't judge either way. Which is the same way I'm looking at FF right now.

2335334 But all the things I hear about the upcoming Fantastic four movie sounds like it's not going to be good.

2335399 Meh. For my personal taste, the few vague statements out there about the film's direction are not enough to sink my faith in it.

2335423 Okay then I have a question for you would you rather have the Fantastic four movie be made by Marvel or would like it to stay at Fox?

2335438 Well, I'd rather see it made by Marvel, but if Fox can pull it off I'll still watch the film.

2335465 And if the upcoming Fantastic four movie made by Fox sucks big time rights go back to Marvel so even if it's bad it's a win for Marvel.

2335488 Well, yes. I imagine that's what Jim Shooter is praying for.

2335492 And if the upcoming Sinister six movie is not made the rights to Spider-Man go to Marvel too.

2335503 Yeah, presuming they can't finagle enough movie in.

2335585 By the way would you like to see a Transformers movie made by Marvel?

2335594 ....I believe you already asked me this. It'd be interesting.
