    Helloooo!!

Hi everyone! I know it's been such a long, long time, but I'll have you know that I still pop in sometimes! I just haven't been productive. XP If you follow me on any of my social media (I started Twitter last year, too!), yeah... It's weird as hell.

    Hello everyone! Also story update!

Hi everybody! I wanted to first say how sorry I am for having pretty much disappeared for the past several months. There really is no excuse for that at all. The last thing I want to do is disappoint all of you. So, I'm very, very sorry. I'm thankful for all of you that have stuck around! I hope that 2017 will be a much better year!

Hello everyone! How's it going? :pinkiehappy:

I’ve considered it quite a bit, but I’ve been unsure about the idea. Not because I don’t have a huge following, I would not expect to get a lot! I’m more than fine with just making some loose change. X3

    The Mane Attraction Review

I know pretty much everyone else is doing this, but I'll go ahead and do it too. XP Because I'm a sheep! Anyway, so this episode was indeed Amy Keating Rogers' final episode of MLP. She's since gotten work at Disney, which is pretty awesome for her. It's pretty sad knowing she's no longer writing for MLP, she's been on staff ever since season one! She even wrote The Journal of the Two Sisters!

    The Hooffields and McColts Review

So it looks like we have the fourth use of the Cutie Map in play today! On top of that, it's Fluttershy and Twilight who are to take care of this friendship problem! And it's a shout-out to not only real-life history based on a feud that lasted over twenty years, but also to movies of a similar theme. Interesting!

The Infamous FlutterDash Kiss · 9:44am Jun 6th, 2012

Okay, so! We've all by now seen that little clip in "A Canterlot Wedding Part 2", haven't we? The one that spawned a lot of curious comments and questions, as to whether or not it really happened. Since it's airing, Bronies alike have all been on either side of the fence. The ones that believe it was a kiss, that it really happened, while the other side believes that the sound was something else entirely or just plain didn't happen the way the other side thinks it did.

But what REALLY happened? What was the deal behind that little scene? You would wonder why the animators would waste such precious screen time when they were already pressed for time with this episode as it was? You would wonder why this would be included? But especially, you would wonder what really happened.

Looking at the scene, here's what happened from start to beginning within that little time frame.

Fluttershy was being approached by Changelings who had taken the form of herself. She quickly manages to trick them into thing the "real" Fluttershy is over someplace else. The Changelings buy it and keep on moving, while she dashes off. She then is ambushed by four Changelings in the form of Rainbow Dash. They prepare to attach her, but then one of them smirks, fighting three of them off. This reveals that this the real Rainbow Dash, who had also been pretending she was a Changeling in front of the other RD-shaped Changelings. Rainbow Dash then proceeds to help Fluttershy up off the ground after having saved her, getting her up in the air.

Simple enough, right?

But then, in between that, there was a little sound that sounded oddly like a kissing sound effect, which was coupled in the fact that their faces were very close together for a brief second within the animation of the clip. As I listened to it more and more, it really did sound oddly like a kiss. It's easy to miss, one of those "blink and you miss it" moments.

I noticed it the first time I watched it, and I was surprised, thinking Rainbow Dash kissed Fluttershy. At the time, I was a bit of a growing shipper of the pair, so you can imagine I was taken aback by it quite a bit. O:

Some have since then said they did kiss. Some have said Rainbow Dash kissed her on the nose. Her lips WERE close to Fluttershy's nose, so I think I go with that.

Along with that, many have said if it WAS a kiss, Rainbow Dash simply kissed Fluttershy as not only a way to assure that she's the real Dash, but also as a way to say "It's all right. We're going to get through this", as the good friend she is in reassuring her companion.

And you know what? I can put aside my shipping goggles. I agree with that completely! It's very sweet and a nice way to really bring up her affectionate expressing to Fluttershy to further assure her that everything is going to be okay.

Then of course there's the other side who view it with shipping goggles, that Rainbow Dash kissed her in a sense of romance as well. So, it makes that we can view it with or without shipping goggles. Either way pretty much works.

It still may beg the question as to whether or not a kiss actually happened, but I digress.

I for one do believe Rainbow Dash kissed Fluttershy. If not on the mouth, the nose. And I see it either way, as I just mentioned up above, from both a canonical and shipping standpoint. I think, maybe, by then, Rainbow Dash WOULD be comfortable doing such a thing to Fluttershy. Their friendship has grown over the course of season two, escalating so much in Hurricane Fluttershy (as I already covered), so it wouldn't surprise me that Rainbow wouldn't have a problem kissing Fluttershy in a sweet, friendly way to further express how much she means to her. They were in private, nopony nor their friends were looking, so it was all too perfect for a moment like that. Kind of like an indication that Rainbow Dash is only really affectionate to Fluttershy if they're alone, which would make sense. But even so, I bet she still would have.

To add to it, Rainbow Dash was SMILING the entire time she saved Fluttershy. She seemed genuinely glad to have found her friend, and we all know she knew it was Fluttershy when she and the Changelings were going to attack. She knew only the real Fluttershy would be cowering like that. Just to show how much she knows her and has, for once, counted on her to be afraid. Even after she fought them off, she was still smiling and just happy that her friend was okay. GONE is any impatience she had back in season one. It was gone back in "Hurricane Fluttershy" and it's still gone here. She likes Fluttershy just the way she is. Either way you look at it, it's adorable. Very adorable. And it's wonderful in how it showcased the strong friendship between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.

On top of that, on a funny note, Rainbow Dash was doing the EXACT same thing Fluttershy was doing by tricking the Changelings! That's just cute. Especially since they were somewhat within sight range of each other. But I digress, I do believe Rainbow WOULD have been smart enough to think of it on her own, too. It was just cute how both bits happened in the same scene.

After that, they were drawn next to each other during some bits of the wedding. X3 Pointless, but cute. And thanks to this episode, I am so convinced Rainbow Dash will perform a Sonic Rainboom at her own wedding one day! :D

In conclusion, it's more than likely either unromantic or just didn't happen. You can believe what you want to believe, because neither side is COMPLETELY wrong. Just like and believe what you prefer, unless the animator, writer or Lauren herself may speak up of it, and accept everyponye else's opinions, plain and simple. There is no right or wrong way to view it, so don't feel discouraged with whatever you feel, because you do have the right to your opinion. Don't let anypony else tell you otherwise.

So, that's about it! Season two has finished, and I've run out of things to talk about with 'em. XD I've covered all that I could. Once more, huge thanks goes to Souldin and ugugg93 for their awesome feedback and inspirations on these topics! And of course, to all of you who have read and offered feedback. :D Thanks again!

Well, now all that's left is to wait and see what season three is going to bring us! I can't wait! I'll be talking of any FlutterDash moments or episodes that will come in season three, which I hope will be the case! :D We'll see what's to come!

Thank you all again! Until my next blog!

OK. This is the way I see it:

1. People who think it's a kiss (I'd like to be one of them, but am too skeptical), it was a kiss on the nose. Nobody will tell you not to make fics about it, nobody will tell you you can't pretend that it happened and jump a little and squeal in joy every time you see that scene. But, there was nothing romantic. As much as I hate to say it, the show deliberately avoids going there. It's just not good for business (actually, considering the fandom is mostly older people...)

2. If you don't think it was a kiss, well, you don't.

3. It's still adorable.

4. God that's still adorable.

5. Still adorable.

6. *rainbows explode from my body*

7. I agree with your excellent and well thought out analysis, NintendGal. Kudos.

And once again, I completely agree with that! It wasn't romantic, not by canon standards....OR WAS IT?!!? ...XD Nah, I'm kidding. But you get my point.

:D You're darn tootin' it was adorable! Of course it was!

Thank you!

I can agree with that, regardless of how you view the scene it was so adorable,
and on an unrelated note your username speaks the truth. :rainbowdetermined2:

:raritystarry:.Well at first I was like:pinkiegasp: did they!!? Later when the episode was on YouTube I decided to check it out to see if they kissed. I was like :raritystarry: by the sound affect I was convinced but I also thought it was just animation and not intended I watched the rest of the episode and noticed it was close to the sound that played when shining and cadence kissed so I’m convinced something happened. :rainbowkiss:

159132
That's a good point! Both sounds were similar and that of a smooch! :rainbowlaugh: Hey, maybe something did happen! :yay::rainbowkiss:

I admit, I completely missed this moment entirely the first time I watched the episode, and it was only when Souldin wrote about it on his blog that they kissed did I go "Whaaa???", go back, and rewatch it. Of course, that time I did hear the "smooch" sound, and was like "WHHHAAA!???"

Now, an analysis on the scene.

I'm not going too into detail with the buildup, because frankly, you did a fine job doing it yourself. Fluttershy was scared, saw more coming, acted like them, so they walked off. She RAN off, got caught by the four, cowered, then was saved by the real Rainbow when it was found out one of the four was actually her.

Now, lets breakdown this next scene, because it goes by fairly quickly. Fluttershy is still scared and in shock over the previous situation, so Rainbow goes to pick her up off of the ground. Rainbow grabs her by the shoulders, and starts to pull Fluttershy up, the latter still confused over the situation. It is right about the moment where they are closest that the "smooch" sound happens, then the two separate, a smile both on their faces. Also note that the entire time, Rainbow has the biggest and sweetest smile on her face, and it honestly is probably the biggest she has in the entire series so far.

All of this hinges around that "smooth" sound. Without it, she's just picking Fluttershy up. With it, speculation runs rampant. I personally think (if we are going with show canon) that it was a friendly kiss, and nothing else. The main reason for this because, no matter how much bronies want it, it also has a significant fanbase with its intended target audience: little girls. And while it might not bother us, having two females kissing romantically is not something that would be accepted by a lot of those girl's parents, and I know there would be an uproar (see the Derpy incident). For that reason alone, Hasbro wouldn't do it.

However...

My head canon says that it happened, it was romantic, and nobody can tell me otherwise dammit! :rainbowkiss::yay:

159442
Agreed! It totally happened, was romantic and super cute in my own little head canon too! :rainbowkiss::yay: :raritystarry::raritywink:

Thanks so much for your input! :pinkiehappy: That's true that the little smooch sound effect did indeed occur when they were at their closest, there's no mistake! D'aww, it was so adorable how Rainbow Dash just had the biggest, sweetest smile the entire time like you said! Definitely the biggest (unless you count the big smile she had back in Hurricane Fluttershy) of all, and it was because of Fluttershy! Clearly out of happiness that her friend was okay! So cute that she smiled at her like that.

So you're right, if we go by the canon of the show, it if it's a kiss, it's meant to be friendly and nothing more. I agree with that! It's just unfortunate that we still live in a world were same-sex couples cannot be showcased on kids shows, because then the parents will be in an uproar despite that it's nothing of any sort of offensive, but whatever. It is aimed at little girls, after all. But, it works because hey, sometimes female friends will kiss each other as a gesture of affection if they're that comfortable with it!

:rainbowkiss: But in our case, we've got YAY! KISSY! :yay: XD
