I really need to get this off my chest.
People, "could of" is not proper English! What you're trying to say is "could've", itself a contraction of "could have". As in "I could have done that", describing a past possibility. So seriously, tell your friends, neighbours, and mortal enemies, because I am real sick of reading "could of, would of, should of" in otherwise great pieces of fiction.
Okay, I'm done. Hope you enjoy my fics!
Sind... is that you? O.o
Seriously, I had this same talk on skype where I'd habitually type out could of when speaking on skype. It's not like I don't know it's grammatically incorrect, it's just how I type when I hear myself talk. Oddly, never really happens in any of my other writing. lol
For someone who wrote such adorable tales, I'll do my best to be more conscious with my skype chats; seeing how it's not just the one friend who finds it annoying. xD
I think you forgot to include FiMFiction's new favourite YouTube video. Here, let me fix that for you:
*Laughs* This is completely valid when it's not spoken dialogue. In that case you have to bow to the act people do not always speak properly.
Uhm... is it even possible to confuse these two? I've never seen anyone using "could of"
