All kinds of fun were had at Everfree NW 2014. Thanks so much to all the folks that made it absolutely the most inclusive and exuberantly friendly public event I have heretofore attended. This is an amazing group of people.

The logistic aspects were wonderfully managed, but I found the events themselves fell between somewhat interesting and kind of cringe-inducing. The writing and VA panels were excellent, with particularly good showings from Pen Stroke and Silver Quill. Both of them have amazing writing chops, and I found myself hanging on every word. I also got great advice and conversation at the Fanfiction hangout from Loyal Liar and tons of other folks, but I was so busy taking notes that I forgot to check their badges. :derpyderp1:

There was also this thing... an in-character advice panel. The three volunteers involved had a tremendous amount of courage in confronting what I theorized would be either hilarious or horrifying. I personally made it about thirty seconds before fleeing for my life. This is totally the fault of my preferences, though, and more power to ya. Right, friendly and inclusive. Okay.

I would have loved to find something to do during that time slot, but there was a severe shortage of events interesting to my particular brony self. Maybe group hangout-style screenings of actual episodes of the actual show the con is for. Or something.

I gotta mention the concerts. Best thing ever. Rebecca Shoichet's set was musically impeccable, full of attitude, and showed a stylistic range that made me fanboy like a crazy person. Rebecca, please be my baby's singing voice.

The whole experience was so new and amazing that I needed to rant somewhere, and this is as good a place as any. It's especially appropriate since I am feeling an implacable urge to write stories about horses. Fimfiction is the best place to keep alive the zenlike friendliness ponies can induce, and that I experienced firsthand at my first MLP convention. Thanks again to everyone who made it such a positive experience.
