Epic Epicness Time

It seems like most of the fics being written at the moment either have an epic plot but are written horribly or are written nicely and have no plot. Stop snickering, you fools, I'm using the literary term here.
Well, I know from my past attempts that I can write well when I put my mind to it, but so far haven't written about anything worth reading. Starting now, I am on a mission to change that. There will be much brainstorming, possibly many headaches, but one day very, very soon I shall hit upon an idea for an epic tale that will actually seem interesting from the moment you read the summary! And when I do, it will be awesome.
Now if only I can find that idea...
