I'm working on a origin story for a particular villainess that does not begin with anything like a normal childhood. Her path here is far more transformative and closely intersects with that of another historical figure—one who's story I also plan to tell in a parallel tale—but her's is far more fun to start with. What follows is a first draft and prone to massive editing changes, as these things go, but I thought I'd share a bit with you. I fell in love with these two and their inevitable arc from unlikely childhood companions to him becoming the greatest mage of all time and her, Equestria's most dangerous threat. Obdurate and misunderstood love can truly... change one.

Of Chaos Born
I began in one of the blights of lingering chaos magic that mottled the land in the years after Discord's original defeat—a pocket of unstable spells and madness made tangible. But it felt normal to me, for as much as I felt anything back then.
I was a blank slate, incomplete, with no thoughts of my own. I had only perception without context or understanding. From such beginnings, there can be no coherent first memory, no earliest moment to which I can point and say that this is where I began.
So, though it is to Discord's first legacy that I owe my existence, I cannot—should I even wish to—claim him as my creator.
No, it was not until my love found his way into my world that everything changed, that I became aware of being discrete from my environment with a mind of my own. It was my love that shaped me, guided me, and set me on my path to greatness—and all without knowing what he was doing. How could he? He was just a curious young foal, and I... his plaything.
Hmm, intriguing...
2201399 That's a response I can be happy with. You picked up on who they might be, I'm guessing? I did edit the blog post to make it a tad more... obvious.
2202688 Oh yes, how so?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??
But I thought you meant, um...
Ah screw it, it's 5:26 in the morning and I can't muster the brainpower necessary to continue that rather poor attempt at humour.
Suffice it to say, yeah I got it.
G'night/morning!
