I like editing fanfiction, and will happily proofread for anyone who asks! I lived in Japan for four years. So... there's that. Woo

    Self-proofreading tip!

If you change the font and size to one you're not used to, it will force you to focus harder as you proofread your work. This will make it more likely for you to spot typos. Neat tip!

    Free Whinnycon Badge

I'm doing three panels at whinnycon, so they gave me codes for three free badges. I only need two of them though... anyone want the last one? First person to pledge fealty in the comments to my cat, Ushi, gets the code.

    Upcoming Whinnycon panels!

    Hey there, peoples!

Whinnycon is in five months. And imma do ALL teh panels.

I have ideas for at least three so far.

    1. How to fimfic. We'll discuss general things like:
    - How to breathe life into your characters.
    - How to identify problems in your own writing, and how to fix or avoid them.
    - Some common pitfalls for inexperienced writers.

    Ciderfest, woo!

Whew! I just got back from Milwaukee Ciderfest, my very first pony con! What a blast!

Here are some of my highlights:

Watching the premiere of "The Mane Attraction" in a convention hall with a brony horde. Everyone sang along with the intro song!

    I made a thing!

It's not fiction-related. Or pony-related. So honestly, it has no business being on this website. But I'm decently happy with how it turned out, so I'm posting it here anywayzzz

I didn't compose this. I performed and recorded each part, then edited them together.

Horizon interview is up! · 5:03am May 22nd, 2014

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PABdBQbY5Mw

Whew! That was by far the hardest I've worked on any one interview so far, from planning, to critical thinking and writing questions, to above all, editing. We went all over the place in this interview. We talked about this, then wandered over here, backtracked a few paces, then did somersaults! I did some extensive rearrangements, so it hopefully doesn't seem as scatterbrained. I cut a ton of stuff too. I started out with almost an hour's worth of material, and trimmed it down to thirty minutes. I also edited out "ums" and "uhs" on a much more detailed level than before, taking out tenths of seconds here, and adding some there. There are a couple places where it sounds a little funky because tiny bits of it were removed, but its much better than the raw version.
On the whole, I'm very happy with how the interview went. Horizon was a pleasure to talk to, and I think I'm improving both as an interview and as an editor, and I hope that's noticeable.
Unfortunately, I have a lot of reading to do before I can do any more interviews. I've put the complete works of Chris, Wanderer D, and ShortSkirtsandExplosions on my kindle, and I've read some works from all of them, but I'm not sure who I want to interview next yet, or when I'll finish enough of any one author's stuff to make an interview possible.
I'm also trying to get into fanfic audiobook voice acting. I found a casting call for one of Scribbler's fanfics, called Truth Be Told, and I already submitted my auditions for it. If you stumble across any other fanfic audiobook casting calls, I'd be grateful if you let me know. Sadly, I only seem to have a knack for voicing male characters. Go figure. Speaking of Scribbler, I should read some of her fics too. The quality of her audiobook readings is absurdly high, and I expect to find a similar level of detail in her writing.

um so anyway yeah go read Horizon's fics and listen to the interview! :D

To get this:

write this:

Minus whitespaces.

2134524 Copy/pasting that link you gave me didn't work... but I figured it out. Thanks a lot for pointing it out!

¿Did you remember to remove the whitespaces?

Having been there for the original hour-long safari through Rambletown, and having listened to the posted interview, your editing is pretty darn amazing. The editing is not 100% seamless but it condenses what I had to say down to where I sound actually smart. :pinkiecrazy: I'm glad you enjoyed our talk!

2134555 I did. Not sure why it didn't work, but it doesn't matter. I found the buttons in the corner to make links and embed vids.

2134660 Oh, you. You always know just what to say~

Thanks a lot! I had a blast interviewing you, and you had really great answers for all my questions. I wouldn't go so far as to call my editing amazing though - elbow grease was the biggest factor, so pretty much anyone can get to this level easily. :twilightblush:

And let me say I especially appreciate your willingness to decimate the "ums" and "uhs". I went back and listened to the original file and cringed. I've got plenty of interesting things to say but clearly I need some more work on public speaking! :twilightblush:

2135479 Heh, I was actually going to ask you if you had ever listened to recordings of yourself. ^^;

I had a similar revelation after my first interview, wherein I realized I prefaced every single question with "so, um" almost without fail. :rainbowlaugh:
